Surgeon Testimonial

Mark G Hausmann
My first impression of Dr. Hausmann was, gee, he's cute! and then he started talking. He asked alot of questions, mostly questions related to my medical history which he was going over as he was talking to me, this impressed me. Most of the doctors I've seen in the past have not even looked at my medical history, let alone ask any questions about it. After that, he asked me which type of surgery I was interested in. RNY, laproscopic, is what I am interested in having. At this point he got a large flip folder and and showed me and explained everything involved in the surgery itself. When he asked me if I had any questions, I looked over my list and discovered he has answered all of them during our talk. I had a few new ones about the malabsorbtion, but he answered thoes very readily. Very impressive man, very well versed and easy to talk to. He also told me that he wanted to see my husband at my next appointment, since he chose not to come to this one, and explained that his support would be very important to my success. MINI has its own support group that meets once a month, and he had Amy, his staff assistant, explain all about that to me as well as the aftercare and pre-care. I have since called Amy a few times and she is always ready to take the time to talk to me and answer any questions that I have. This is a good physician and staff to deal with. Will tell you more as I learn it.rnrn4/8/06 - Went to a New U Meeting last night, that is the support group run by MINI. My Hub went with me. I am so glad we went. Dr. Hausmann was there, explaining the different procedures and my husband learned alot. He finally gets it. Thanks to MINI, Dr. Hausmann and the New U, my husband now understands what I have been talking about.

Thank you Cindee for the well wishes. I really appreciate it. I am six days post op and a bit sore, but nothing major. Thank you.

Thanks so much for your prayers. I believe they were answered. I came through the surgery with no complications (so far). They had me up and walking around the nurses station the day of the surgery and I returned home after 2 days. I feel fine as far as pain is concerned. But, I am extremely tired. I washed and dried my hair this morning and that seems to have taken all of the energy I had for the day. Hopefully, this part won't last long. Good luck with your journey!

Yup, It's been awhile....

Yup, time to add to this thing again.  Well, let's see, where to begin.

I am down to a size 12, 5 lbs from goal with a total of 112 lbs lost.  My goal was revised up ten lbs because of extra skin.  If/when I have it removed, I would lose the ten lbs.

Issues:  Water.  I have a VERY hard time getting in my 64 oz each day.  I try and try, seems like the only way I can do it is to carry a bottle with me at all times.  This past weekend, my DH and I went for a ride, both days.  Saturday I got 2 bottles in, and Sunday only one.  NOT GOOD.  It is very hard to drink water on the back of a Harley going 90 to nuthin down the interstate.  Today, I am paying for it, woke up with a headache, knew what it was from and drank a bottle of water before I even had a cup of joe.  Yea me.  lol.

Unwanted Attention:  I have been having a problem with this for about a while now.  I find it very difficult when I run into people who have not seen me in a year and they are shocked.  Shocked in a good way, but shocked none the less.  It is especially difficult when it comes from males.  I feel better now, I have more confidence, I have better self image and I know I look better, but geezo people, this IS NOT a reason to put the moves on me. Makes me very uncomfortable when that happens.

Menopause:  This IS NOT a result of the surgery.  I am 49 years old, it is a natural occurance.  I did have a hysterectomy in '93, so I only have one ovary, but I am still having some symptoms.  The doc put me on Premarin, and that helps with the flashes.  The latest thing I'm having is anxiety.  Have tried two different things, and neither has worked.  Going back to the doc today.  We will see.
