I found Dr. Ikramuddin to be very open, informative and he explained the various procedures very well. He was very realistic about what I could expect.rnrnThe office staff at the U of M are great- and very supportive.rnrnDr. Ikramudding emphasizes after care, and the program has a structured time table for follow up appointments, extending to yearly for the rest of the patient's life. After care includes visits with the nurse practioner, surgeon or resident, and the dietician.rnrnRisks of surgery were very well explained prior to my deciding what procedure to have. All patients attend an informational seminar as the 'entry point' to the weight loss surgery clinic.rnrnI could not rate Dr. Ikramuddin any higher- I was very pleased with my care, and his approach to the surgery.rnrnI would take surgical competence over bedside manner, but the latter goes a long way to help patients feel secure and safe.
