YOU CAN DO IT! Yeah, your turn is finally here! You will do great! The first night is rough, just remember to get up an move, walk and get help from the nurses if you need it! I mean every 30 minutes for the first 6-8 hours walk walk walk. You will feel alot better if you do. It is amazing how fast the recovery is. You will be losing before you know it.

Hi, my name is Deanna, and I'm 27 at the moment. Everything in my life is kind of up in the air right now, and will be for the next few months, so I'll hold off on current details. As you can probably tell by the username, my "thing" is politics. I love primary season! I'm a poli sci major, and one of these days I'll actually finish my degree...lol. My dream is to work on campaigns the rest of my life. It doesn't pay well, but WOW is it invigorating and fun! I'm a very competitive person by nature, so it suits me well. :) When I'm not on here, I'm either sleeping or watching the news. That about sums me up. If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask...I am an open book!

Getting ready for surgery!
on June 3, 2008 9:29 am
So we went to Walmart last night to stock up on things for when I get back home. Seeing all the stuff in my house that I've been reading about makes it feel real! It finally set in last night that I'm REALLY doing this! I'm scared still, but mostly I'm very excited! I can't wait to join the loser's bench and start leading a happier, healthier life!

My Story

Like a lot of people on this site, I have been overweight my whole life...well at least since I was about 4. My mom had me originally, but was declared an unfit mother because she didn't feed us (me, my brother, and my sister). When my dad got me, his new wife took over and started feeding me huge plates of homemade, very unhealthy food. She was of the mindset that you had to finish everything on your plate or face getting smacked. Thanks to my mom and stepmom, I developed some "issues" with food. Even after my dad got me, I was convinced that I would not be fed, so I would steal food from the kitchen and hide it in my room. Thanks to my stepmom, it took me YEARS to be able to leave food on my plate. I went from malnourished at 4 to being overweight at 5. I think the huge change, bad eating habits, and all that played a part in me staying overweight the rest of my life. It's just MY theory, but I think the way my weight changed as a child may have affected my metabolism in a negative way, and set me up for disaster. Fast forward to teen years, and I tried everything to take the weight off: Slim Fast, fat camp, low cal, low fat, nutrisystem, etc. When I hit my 20s, a new barrage of diets: Metabolife, Atkins, South Beach, Sugar Busters, Hampton Diet, Cabbage Soup Diet, and on and on... Here I am at 27, and I am sick to death of all these stupid things! I will be getting sleeved on June 10th, 2008. It's time to restart my life!
