Three week update on BPD/DS revision 2/27/10
on February 27, 2010 9:26 am
Hi, everyone, I have finally mustarded up the energy to give you an update on my revision from RNY to BPD/DS. I am doing fine. It's been exactly three weeks post surgery and I am doing great. I have loss 40lbs, started pre-surg at 309lbs, and today I am 269lbs. I still have some gas/bloating and stools are not formed yet but I'm not in any pain and I can eat regular food now, of course no sugar, pop, or high carbs. I have been following the program to the letter and it is paying off. I get my protein in and water as well as all of my vitamins (A, D3, multi +Iron, and calcium citrate, I also take an additional Iron pill with vit C because of my anemia pre-surgery). I know that I will reach my goal this time of 170lbs, and I am so looking forward to it...I will keep you posted of my progress and any problems I may run into...Please feel free to PM me or ask if you plan to go through this type of revision I will give you all the information I can through my experience...good luck and God bless everyone going through the revision and virgin surgery.

Considering Revision...
on December 8, 2009 3:06 pm
Hello everyone,
Is there anyone who can give me some information on having a revision done? I am strongly considering it and I am a little nervous about it. I had the RNY done back in 12/1995, I lost a total of 198 pounds, bringing me to 220 pounds. Over the 14 yrs I have since gained back 75 pounds. I do not want to get any bigger but I seem to be out of control, not to mention I never got the chance to reach my goal weight of 170 pounds, close but not there, and now I am gaining again...can someone pls help. Would you recommend the revision? and what can I expect after having the RNY revising to what? Any information would be helpful...Thank you...

My Story

Hello everyone, I'm gonna be real brief with my story...First off I had a RNY gastric bypass back in 12/30/1995. My pre-surgery wt was 418lbs, I loss wt. down to 220lbs. I managed to maintain that wt. till about 2002, I could not lose anymore wt. and I slowly began to regain the wt back. I was exercising, eating very little because my pouch could not hold that much food which was good it was still working. That is when someone suggested that I go to the OH board because there were people on there that had the same problems that I was facing. I had began to feel like a failure, and angry with myself. Then I discovered that I wasn't a failure and that the surgery had failed me...I did my research and asked many..many questions about having a revision done and got great responses, and suggestions. I decided to have the BPD/DS revision in which I maintain my pouch from the RNY, but the DS portion was done on my small intestines. My surgery date was 2/2/10. I was approved through BC/BS very quickly, within one week...truely a blessing...and the rest is history...
