***3 months Post Op*** on April 12, 2010 5:24 pm
Hey Fam...
Its been a minute, so Im going to give you all the update. Ive lost a total of 53.6 lbs.(my former BMI) in the past 3 months. I was hoping that it would be more, but I guess God works at his own pace. I guess Im expecting to wake up and be down 30 lbs. I know that its not gonna happen, but Im just saying...lol I sometimes find myself questioning if my surgeon did it right. Ive seen so many stories to where people have lost 70+ lbs within 4 months and I get upset with myself thiking my surgery was a bust. I take my vitamins/B12 daily. Ive finally moved on to solid foods(YEA!!!),but I still keep my trusty Cheerios on standby. I go to the gym everyday(rain or shine) and do the dang thang. I went to hip-hop aerobics and needed an Oxygen Drip when I left...LOL( I was dang near crawling outta there). The good thing is, I went back the next week and enjoyed it. I havent made it to water aerobics yet(You know how we get about our hair),but I plan on doing something soon. I know Im rambling.
What's going on with you guys?

** 2 Months Post-Op** on February 28, 2010 3:47 pm
Hey Yall....
Im now 2 months out and feeling good. Ive been trying to eat solid foods, but lets just say that I havent had the best luck. This past week alone has been an experience. Things that I can tolerate but not limited to: are cheese, thin sliced turkey, canned tuna, mashed potatoes, canned chicken, crackers, and my trusty cheerios. Ive started taking my multivitamins and they are staying down as well. My sublingual B12 is ok,but it takes forever to dissolve(8-15 mins). I have lost 37 lbs in 8 weeks. Its not as much as I was hoping for,but it 37 lbs that I will never see again. I was cleared to go hard in the gym after my appointment on 2/22,so I will step my game up so I can get to the 50 lbs mark by my birthday. Im sure I will get there with hard work. My mom says that my neck is looking like it cant hold my head up...LOL
Whats going on in your world?

**6 weeks Post-Op** on February 17, 2010 6:33 am
Hey Yall...
I said that I wasnt gonna blog but once a month about my progress, but who am I kidding...I just cant stay away. I was struggling with the scale for a while and got real discouraged. I could have thrown that d*#n thing out the window and let a dump truck roll over it...LOL I went to my Post-Op diet class. The others were moving on to solid food and here I am still on the soft purees(SIGH).... Today is 2/17 and Im still taking baby steps to work my way up to solids. I have no regrets,so Im going to take it one day at a time. My iron is LOW, Im eating ice by the cups daily.
I got on the scale 2 days ago and I am FINALLY under 300lbs. I weighed in at 298.4. I was about to have a Holy Ghost fit in my bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror and was like...ITS YOUR TIME BABY(and cupped my hand when I walked away) LOL...Im starting to feel so much better about myself. My friends(the ones that know) are starting to say"Look at you getting all skinny"...Ive only lost 32-34lbs since December mind you)..Im no longer just the girl with the pretty face. (I hate when people say that)
HELP.......I am going to a friend's birthday party(at a resturant) on Friday night. She has no clue that Ive had surgery. How do I enjoy myself knowing that I cant eat even a sizeable amount of food?
Anyhoo, I will keep you guys posted on my progress.
Whats going on you guys?

** 1 Month Post-Op** on January 28, 2010 4:36 pm
Hey family....
Its my 1 month anniversary. Ive lost a total of 25 lbs. Its not as much as I wanted, but its 25 lbs that are gone forever. These past few weeks have been an adventure. In an earlier blog, I told you guys that I got a cruise as a Christmas gift. Well, family...I went to Mexico and had a ball. Lets talk about getting on this plane...I got on the plane (drum roll please) the seat belt fit. That felt so good. I was smiling the entire flight. The cruise was awesome as well. I still was afraid to put on the swimsuits that I bought, but I will work that out another time. On to the FOOD: All of my friends were eating like no tomorrow and I sit there and eat crushed ice, eggs, croutons, and my new best friend CHEERIOS. That is what kept me alive. They go down real smooth and Ive had no problems bringing them back up. I did get a little grown and try some solid food. I quickly learned that I need to stay on the porch and sit down with the newbies. I will wait my turn...LOL I could go on and on,but I dont wanna bore you guys.
One more thing: My clothes and shoes are starting to get real loose. Im a shopaholic and I now can go into Shoe stores,Lane Bryant, Torrid, Avenue, Target, etc and not spend any money because I know that Im not gonna get much wear out of the clothing/shoes,so Ive decided that IF and only IF Ive lost 40lbs by my birthday, I will treat myself to a few new pieces.
How are things going with you guys?
Im gonna try to upload new pics, but I think my files are too big for the site.

**Funny Feeling** on January 13, 2010 4:07 pm
Hey Family...
This has been going on for a few days now. Im on the pureed stage(jello, apple sause, pudding, etc.) I think I can feel my food/water moving down to my stomach and it feels d@mn near knotting/lump like going down. Did any of you start to get somewhat of an appetite this early out? I havent tried to eat anything other than whats allowed, but I have felt like I can eat more apple sauce or jello (if needed) I think I have lost my mind. I have gone back to work(too many nosey people on my job) knowing that I should sit my behind at home another few weeks. So, when I get home in the afternoon, I have to take a nap and trust me I mean a 4 hour plus nap. If not, I cant function. Also, I have become obesessed with the scale. I really think that when I get up in the morning that the scale is going to magically say a 5-10 lb. difference. I know its all mental. . I can finally sneeze comfortably without thinking Im going to explode my insides.I have two incisions (one where the camera was and one where my new stomach is) that are still numb/sore. I go to see Dr. K tomorrow for my 2 week post op checkup. Lets pray for the best!
How are you guys doing on your journey?

My Story
I'm a 31 year old woman living in Charlotte, NC. My story is similiar to alot of others on here. I have been overweight for as long as I can recall. I started my WLS journey in 2002,but continued to put it off because of school and my career. During this time, I've put on a tremendous amount of weight. I tried to get approved through a different insurance provider, but I didn't. I guess that was GOD's way of letting me know that it wasn't my time. So, fast forward 7 years and here we are. I buckled down and got focused. I literally woke up one morning and looked in the mirror and I didnt recognize myself. I knew at that time, that I had to do something. I went to my first information session. I had my first consultation in August. My paperwork was submitted October 23rd. I got the call from Sherrie on the 27th saying that I was APPROVED. I still have the message on my voicemail.(LOL) My date is December 28, 2009.
