Surgeon Testimonial

Ronald H. Clements, M.D.
I saw Dr. Clements at my second support group meeting. Then again at my first appointment. He seems very nice. His staff has been very helpful with anything I need to know. I have been told he is one of the best in Alabama, I sure hope so! He get's an A+ so far! At a year and a half out I am at goal and very happy. This surgery is a very good tool, and your success depends on if you do what Dr. Clements tells you. He is a very good Dr. I thank God every day for being able to have this surgery and pray that my body stays strong and healthy. Since surgery I no longer have diabetes or acid reflux. I feel wonderful!

WOW!! I weigh 118 pounds...

January 6, 2006

I went to Dr. Clements today for my 16 month checkup. (Drumroll Please) I weigh 118!!! I have lost 102 lbs.(WOW) The nurse thought I was there for a hernia or something. She said she thought I was too little to have had Gastric Bypass. Dr. Clements said he didn't know what else he could do for me. He said I have done great. I showed him my Before and After pictures and he want's copies of them. He told me to always remember that the best thing that has come out of this is that my diabetes is gone. (Thank God) I had the usual blood work and will know about it in a week or so. He said I should start leveling off and staying around this weight. I have had such great results and am so happy. I just hope to maintain this weight now.

I weigh 130 pounds...
on September 2, 2005 12:00 am

September 2,2005

I went to my 1 year appointment with Dr. Clements today. I weighed 130! That is a total of 90lbs. He was very pleased. He said to just keep doing what I have been doing. He said try not to let my weight control me anymore. He wishes I would throw my scales out of my house. I am going to really try not to let food control me any longer. I had to go to the lab and have 12 tubes of blood drawn. At 1 year they check all your vitamin levels and other stuff. I will post when I find out the results. I got a letter from Dr. Clements office and my Ferritin level (stored Iron) is 4. It is supposed to be between 10-291. I have heard it needs to be at least 40. Wow mine is low. I have been feeling pretty tired lately. I have to go Sep.13 for a 3 hour Iron Infusion. They said it will really help. I sure hope so. I also have to take 2 500mgs of vitamin c each day. It was a little low and it also helps you absorb Iron. Oh, and I am in the 120's and so excited!!! Getting close to 100lbs lost!!

I am 1 year post-op today. My husband took my 1 year pictures and filmed me. He has filmed me every 3 months since surgery. I watched the tape and could not believe what I looked like a year ago. It was really a shock! It has been an emotional year and I am so happy and I thank God everyday for every moment. Life is so Wonderful! I was a happy person before the surgery. I just was not happy with my weight or being a diabetic. I am so much healthier now.
