Home resting
on February 10, 2013 8:41 pm

Well the surgery went well. They took a huge orange-sized cyst that was on one of my ovaries as well as a couple more repairs. I am resting and taking it easy. Going to try to be at Grp Tuesday tho. May not be able to stay the whole time. But I want to be there.

Now as soon as I recover from this surgery, in six weeks, I am getting back to the gym!! Never thought I would want to do that so much huh?  I know how important it is to get and stay in shape. May we are going on a cruise to Alaska. So I need to be in the best shape possible. Getting all my ducks in a row!  Lining up a house-dog sitter, shopping for cruise clothes,(fun!).  Loving on my new grand daughter. What a cutie she is.  As well as watching my three yr old grand daughter. My life is definitely full!  Hope everyone has been working your plans. Whatever they are. Remember, when we fail to plan, we plan to fail. Hope to see you all at Grp tues night.

Feb 1st

Here we are in February already!  I had pre op appointments all day today. Nothing WLS related, just pesky female stuff!  Having surgery on the sixth. Recovery of six weeks. Can't wait to get back into the gym. We went to Monterey yesterday and spent the day hiking around Point Lobos. It was such a beautiful warm, sunny day!!  It felt good to finally be able to walk without pain in my knees after surgery last year. I am really tired of surgeries!

BUSY!!!
on January 24, 2013 6:25 pm

Wow!  I am exhausted!  Been packing my 82 yr old mom up and moving her to San Jose into my brother and sil home!  I have been her caretaker for over 8 yrs and it is definitely time for brother to step up. So thankful!  So in the doing for her I get lost in there. I also watch my granddaughters a few days a week. Would not give that up for anything. Love them to the moon and back. Soooo, keeping myself motivated and on track is sometimes a challenge. Being out 6 yrs I can eat most anything but I still eat mainly protein and veg!  Maintaining 120 lb loss.  My labs are good, still do vites and protein shake religiously. Have female probs that will require surgery next month. So I have not been to the gym. Need that so badly!!  This is going to be an awesome year!!

The New year
on January 17, 2013 5:08 pm

in December I had my six year check up at kaiser in Fremont. I got to see Dr Chu and talked to her about support groups. She believes support groups are important to our long term success. She showed me pictures of her adorable children. She was supposed to be my surgeon and went off on maternity leave before she could do my surgery. Dr O'Brien was awesome as usual. All my labs were good. Need to step up the exercise, when my latest surgery (long story) recovery is over. I hope all of you have made good decisions in your daily lives to get healthier and live your lives to the fullest and the best you can. Our next Grp mtg will be the 22nd.  Hope you all attend. Looking forward to another great meeting!!

My Story

I began the process of WLS in mid March 06. I received my approval letter on June 17. I am now waiting for a call to schedule an Orientation mtg. I was a very active child/teen. I gained a lot of weight with 2 pregnancies, while my husband was away in the Navy. Food became my comfort and my friend when I was so lonely and alone. I developed habits that were never part of my life previously, Overeating to compensate for lonliness and no activity to speak of. Here I am now nearly 36 yrs later and a thousand pounds lost and regained, searching for my life back. I now have four grandsons and I am waiting for a granddaughter from my baby boy who is still in college at this time. (He's not married yet)
I love to knit and to read and do all sorts of crafts. I am a christian and believe fervently in prayer.
I am so looking forward to meeting some of you out there. I live in Modesto and would welcome a pal or two. Most of my close friends live out of state. I love this site and lurk every day and sometimes respond to others. I get a lot of info and encouragement from everyone. Thanks, Denise--On Angel Wings

Just an update, since I finally figured this out,(puter challenged) Anyway, I had my surgeon's consult on Thursday and I am so stoked!!
Dr. Chu will be my surgeon and I was really impressed with her. I told her I wanted to have the surgery in Oct and she said okay, just need to get the remaining wt off. I have lost a total of 15 lbs. I have 8 lbs to lose to get my psych eval set up and 5 more from there to get the surgery scheduled. I have been working out regularly, water aerobics and walking too. I feel so much better and I am not hungry at all. I have to say I am pretty surprised. I am becoming more confident that I can accomplich this in the time I have. Dr. Chu is leaving in Dec for maternity leave, so that is quite a motivation. I don't want to have to wait until she gets back. I know...I can do all thing in Christ who gives me strength!!TTFN
