Surgeon Testimonial

David Suh, M.D.
Very professional with excellent credentials. Staff very helpful. Excellent aftercare. He has 4 organized support groups within 40 miles of my home. Rate him as an excellent surgeon. Surgical competence is better than his bedside manner. He answers questions, but is no very chatty--sticks to business.

It's now been over 2 years since surgery --today is July 4, 2008. I've made it to Onderland (where you weigh under 200 pounds) and I've also succeeded in losing over 150 pounds on my RNY journey. Simple routine exercise, eating right, taking good vitamins, paying attention to lab results to see if you need additional vitamins, and attending support group meeting on a regular basis--these are the needed ingredients for my weight loss, and probably yours. I find that attending support group meetings an essential element for this surgery. I made good progress after surgery, attending meetings once a month. Then I "got lazy", and stopped going. In 5-6 weeks, I regained 22 pounds. That was my wake up call, and I begain attending meetings again. Eating properly, taking your supplements (I take calcium and the GBG Multi Formula Liquid Vitamin), routinely exercising, and attending group support meetings to be the proper "recipe" for success with surgery. I've lost that 22 pounds, and am down to 210 pounds now, the same weight I was when I got married in 1967, some 40 years ago. DAVE

Calcium citrate powder.
on May 9, 2009 10:26 am
I recently found some powdered calcium citrate. No flavor, and truly a fine powder. I've tried the NOW brand of powdered caclium citrate before, but it's gritty like beach sand.  3/4 tsp is about 600mg. Mixes well with foods, shakes, sauces, etc. $10 for a 4 month supply of 1600mg . There is no need to take 2 of  those BIG HORSE PILLS to get your 600mg calcium citrate supplements. New photo in my photos. Unflavored Whey Isolate Protein
on December 10, 2008 9:03 pm
I recently found a source for an inexpensive unflavored whey isolate protein. 3 Tbsp is 25 gr of protein, or 2T = 17 gr of protein, with very mild flavor similar to evaporated milk. It can be mixed with foods or make your own protein supplement drinks.  It has no gritty texture, and mixes easily with SF pudding, oatmeal, soups, sauces, etc. Cost is $20 per pound, which is 35 servings of the  25 gr or 58 of the 17 gr servings.  Photo of protein in My Photos. Can be found at http://liquidbariatricvitamins.com/liquidbariatricvitamins/unflavored%20whey%20protein%20isolate.htm .  This is the most affordable whey protein isolate I have found. DAVE

Dry roasted edamame has 14 grams of protein per 1/4 cup. Edamame is a soy bean that is harvested when only 80% mature, and that's why it is green in color. Visit www.dried-edamame.com to learn more about this excellent high protein snack.

I had a distressing phone call yesterday. I've raised Ragdoll cats since 1977 and have maintained a license to legally do so since licensure was required around 1981.  I was informed yesterday morning that my license would not be renewed. My intial license was grand faterhed in becasue I had written permission to operate a cattery prior to licensure requirements.  I now have to place around 50 cats and kittens . UPDATE: I've been given an extension to September 11, then Nov.15, and the authorities are due to come back at any time (note of 12-30-08).  Some are alters, some are older kittens, some are breeders. If the cats are not placed, they will be impounded and probably euthanized. Reduced pricing on kittens and mature breeding cats.  Photo of breed is at
