My surgeon was great and the hospital was the best. I was at Fresno Heart Hospital. Private rooms and waited for nothing.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I have always been overweight and learned to deal with it. I don't think it really stopped me from doing much but, if I had been thinner I would have been more active. I am a quite person overall and I don't think weight had anything to do with that. I tried almost everything out there and would lose lbs but then slowly put them back on.

Hello Everyone,

It has been along time.  Well I had plastic surgery (tummy tuck) in August of 2009.  Very glad I did however, now I need more skin taken off under my arms, legs and middrift area and then of course a breast lift.  Part of that will come next year (2011).  I am struggling with weight issues have gained about 5-7 lbs and boy is it hard to get it back off.  I try to eat right somewhat but old habits try to creep back in.  My hardest thing is finding time to exercise.  But I have kept my weight down and with God's help I will continue.  I never want to be back at the weight that I was.  I enjoy being thinner you can do so much more and you feel better and amazing enough people look at you differently.

I am happy and am continuing my battle though.  Just because we have bariatric surgery does not mean the battle has been won.  You can put your weight back on just as quickly as you had the surgery and it came off.

I hope that anyone reading this and thinking about having surgery goes for it.  It was the best thing that I ever spent my money on.  I am enjoying life.

Please email with any questions you might have would love to help someone out like I was helped out when I starting this journey.

Wow it has been awhile since I have been on.  I had a tummy tuck in August and am extremely happy with the results.  I never imagined how I would feel after having 71/2 lbs of skin removed.  I am now looking forward to having some other areas improved by Dr. Kaufmann.  He is an excellent doctor and his staff is wonderful.  I pray everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year and all your dreams come to past and your needs are met.

Well I think the scale is my friend again.  It has started moving again slowly.  I hit the 80lb mark on Sunday.  20 to 30 more to go for my goal.  I will see what the doctor says.  My year check up is Oct 1 about 1 1/2 mos early but that ok.  I just want the scale to keep moving down.  I tried on a siz 10 pair of pants yesterday and much to my surprise they fit.  I was stoked.  I don't think I have ever been this small.  I will definitely need some plastics to be satisfied to much loose skin around the middle and my arms.  But that will come in time.  I am happy I can see the scale moving and all I need to do is keep remembering this is all worth it and to make good food choices.

Just a quick update.  The scale is starting to move 1 lb at a time.  Everyone else sees the weight loss but I am still having a hard time because the scale is not moving as quickly as I want it to.

But I can tell in my clothes.

Hello Everyone,

It has been a while but I am still at 75lbs bouncing around.  I have started walking again and I am trying to be real conscientious about what I eat.  Trying to cut back on carbs and eat more fruits & vegetables.  I am not where I want to be and need some help to kick start this body again.  I am not discouraged but I need to do something to get going to lose a few more lbs.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Regina

My Story

Well like most everyone else.  I have been overweight all of my life. Oh yes I have lost weight over the years and felt good about it, however those pounds always seem to find their way back.  I am 45 yrs old, single, no children, no pets and I love it.

I have a dear friend and we travel and hang out together all the time.  I started my WLS journey about March 2006.  Did all of my doctors appointments. Submitted approval for surgery to my insurance only to be denied.  After much frustrationa and conversations with my insurance co.  I found out that the reason I was not covered was because my company chose to not cover WLS surgeries to save money.  But I knew that I needed this surgery or who knows where I would end up and in what health.  So I decided to self pay.  Received my surgery date of Nov 16,2006 so only about 8 month for the whole process, but the worst part is after getting a surgery date is the waiting.  I had to plan it around my job and things going on at home.  But now I am 2 wks til surgery and I cannot wait.  I know when it comes right down to it I will be nervous because I have never had any surgeries and never been in the hospital for more than a broken arm when I was in high school which was a long time ago.

But the hospital I am going to be in has all private rooms so I won't have to worry about having a roomie.
