Renee, congrats on your big day, and a healthier life! You're in my prayers, and I'm sure you'll be a great Bandster!

Hi Renee, Best wishes on your WLS. I also had Dr. Landerholm for my surgeon and just love him! He and his staff have been so supportive through my surgery and beyond. I was banded on 3/6/06 and have lost 30 lbs. so far. I had my first fill last week and it went really well. You will soon be on the losing side and have picked a wonderful surgical staff to help you get there. :-) Allison

Hi, Renee, I'm Renay M as well, and we are both scheduled to have lap-band surgery on May 11th. It doesn't stop there, neither of us has any comorbities. So, I wanted to say hi to my surgery twin and wish you blessings in your journey. Take care, Renay

My Story

Wow six years have passed? Not possible. Since LB surgery things have not gone as expected. about a year into the surgery with very slow weight loss I had lost about 40 lbs. I had an overfill and had to have my band unfilled while my tummy took a break for about 6 weeks. When I was ready for another fill my band was unfillable. The best guess for what happened was a kink or fold in the port tube. This has been very depressing and has made me feel like a helpless case. My Dr. said the next step was an alternate surgery. I have decided on the gastric sleeve procedure. I had some major financial changes during all of this and have been saving for the last couple of years. All of my weight loss related expenses have been without the benefit of insurance.

I am struggling in my head with my ability to be successful. I have spent a huge amount of my family's money on surgery. I have been cleared for the psych eval. I have a nutrition appointment next week. I need to bring my BMI to 50 before surgery. This equates to about 30lbs to lose. This scares the heck out of me. I have been struggling to lose weight for my entire life, and especially the last 4 years. It has been impossible. My best friend just moved out of state and I do not have the support I think I need. I will follow through with the surgery and deal with the rest as I go.
