Surgeon Testimonial

Jon R. Pirrello, Jr. M.D.
When I first met Dr. Pirrello, I thought he was very knowledgeable on everything that I asked him. He was very patient with my husband and myself. He had some concerns about some past stomach problems, so he sent me to have some tests to make sure that everything was okay before I could have this kind of surgery. That tells me he was concerned about my health. The office staff have always been very nice and helpful whenever I have had questions. I think that Dr. Pirrello cares about his patients and he is very through with everything. I would rate him to be a very caring Doctor.

Good luck next week! I had a friend pray this prayer for me before surgery and I wanted to share it with you. I'll be praying the same thing for you next week: I will certainly be praying that God give you peace and comfort. That all fears, anxieties be subdued by God's indescribable peace. That you'll just be covered with an undeniable confidence that He is with you each step of the way. I will lift up each of the doctors and nurses that the Lord guides their hands and minds. I'll pray that the Lord works His healing power in your body during the recovery process. And that your life will be forever changed for the better !!!!!!!!! We can give Him thanks today for the Joy of tomorrow. Can't wait to hear the good news.

Having been sick
on June 22, 2008 2:45 pm
Seems like I am starting to feel better now. At least, breathing easier. I have been told I can't go back to work until July 2nd and I have to listen to what they tell me. I have lost a total of 102 lbs. now. I am weighing 269lbs. I lost 40 before surgery and the rest has been after surgery. I also have to take into account, being sick, and not being able to keep alot of things down. I hope that I am not losing it way too fast. I don't want anymore problems.

Just when it starts getting better
on June 19, 2008 12:41 pm
I think I must just have bad luck. I had to go to the Emergency Room at Stanly Regional Medical Center on Tuesday. I went to my primary Doctor on Monday, he tells me that I have an ear infection. I told him I felt like I had pneumonia but he didn't think so. Well on Tuesday, I ran a fever of 103.4 and I went to the ER and x-ray showed it right away. I have also not been able to get my protein in because of this so I had blood issues too. I was admitted and came home today but I am out of work until July 1st. I am telling this so that I can get people to pray for me that I will get well and stay that way.

People say the most funny things now
on June 5, 2008 12:56 pm
I tell ya things have been going good lately. I am trying still to get all my protein in. My client's keep asking me "Where did your butt go?" They say that I have lost alot there and around my belly. I find it all amusing. I have finally been able to work on a regular basis and have alot of energy now. I have lost a total of 91 1/2 lbs. That was also including the 40 I lost before surgery. I am still wanting to join the YMCA but right now, we can't afford to do that. I wanted to do the water workouts. My cousin is going to start being my personal trainer this weekend, and I am sure that she is going to make me work out hard. I still have to be careful with my right ankle or I may still break it. I have arthritis in it really bad, seems worse since surgery.

Up's and Down's Still
on May 27, 2008 1:47 am
Well, some days are good days and some days are bad. I seem to get sick at least one time a day, that is even with measuring my food that I am suppose to eat. I still have been fighting to get my protein in. I can get all of my water in with no problem. My husband and I celebrated our 6th anniversary on Saturday, we went out of town, just the two of us, which is something we rarely do. I even got sick that evening, and it was sad. I have been doing great with losing and walking...some days I don't get in the complete hour but I try. In a few days, I am gonna add the Bowflex machine to working out and hope that helps with getting rid of my belly and helps tighten up that area. Hope that everyone on my friends list is doing well!

Feeling alot better
on May 20, 2008 4:17 pm
I am doing alot better. Now if I can just get all my protein in. I went to my one month post-op yesterday. I have lost pretty good in the first month. I little more than I think my doc was wanting but I was happy. I went back to work today; no more dizzy spells. Thank goodness! This Saturday will be my 6th anniversary. My husband is wanting us to get a babysitter and go out of town for the weekend. Hopefully, it will happen, we need sometime to ourselves. We don't get that very often. I also found out that I am gonna be a grandma again. There are already four little ones around so one more shouldn't be too bad.

My Story

I am like most others on this site. I have been overweight all of my life. I think my love of food started when I was about 3 or 4. If it wasn't something that I liked to eat, I would say no and wouldn't eat it. But most of the time, I would eat. I rollercoasted through the teenage years with yo-yo dieting. I did the Jenny Craig, Diet Center, and Weight Watchers. I would lose and gain and it has been that way most of my life. I am what you call an emotional eater and the food that I eat becomes my friend. If that makes sense. I realized that my health wasn't going to get better the way I was going and decided to start investigating WLS after my primary Doctor and I talked one day. He supposts me having WLS and the staff in his office have been really supportive  in my making this decision.
