Surgeon Testimonial

Jon R. Pirrello, Jr. M.D.
When I first met Dr. Pirrello, I thought he was very knowledgeable on everything that I asked him. He was very patient with my husband and myself. He had some concerns about some past stomach problems, so he sent me to have some tests to make sure that everything was okay before I could have this kind of surgery. That tells me he was concerned about my health. The office staff have always been very nice and helpful whenever I have had questions. I think that Dr. Pirrello cares about his patients and he is very through with everything. I would rate him to be a very caring Doctor.

Good luck next week! I had a friend pray this prayer for me before surgery and I wanted to share it with you. I'll be praying the same thing for you next week: I will certainly be praying that God give you peace and comfort. That all fears, anxieties be subdued by God's indescribable peace. That you'll just be covered with an undeniable confidence that He is with you each step of the way. I will lift up each of the doctors and nurses that the Lord guides their hands and minds. I'll pray that the Lord works His healing power in your body during the recovery process. And that your life will be forever changed for the better !!!!!!!!! We can give Him thanks today for the Joy of tomorrow. Can't wait to hear the good news.

One week Post-op
on April 29, 2008 3:02 pm
Today, I am at one week post-op. I went to see Dr. Pirrello today, got my staples taken out. It feels alot better now. I think I over did the walking today. I went to Super Walmart and walked up and down the isles twice just looking at things and getting my walking done. I finally got permission to drive again. Then, I was told I could return to work next Wednesday. I could have returned sooner but my supervisor was concerned that I could not do all I have to at my job. I lost 13 lbs. but today he put me on Lasix to get rid of excess water that I have. I still haven't gotten the feeling back in my left hand yet. He just told me to give it a little while. I came home from Concord and after the Walmart walking, I walked around the neighborhood. I thought I would never make it back to the house by that time my legs were shaky and so was I. Yesterday, I had my first bout of being sick on my stomach. Oh, man did it hurt! So far, I have been able to drink all my protein and all the water that is required. Hopefully things will just continue to get better.

Wishing this pain would go away!
on April 27, 2008 11:53 am
Well Tuesday morning came, I had to be at the hospital at 9 am. I wasn't scheduled for surgery until 12 noon. My family and I were told that the surgery would take about 2 hours. Well when I woke up and got to my room upstairs at the hospital it was 7:15 pm. My surgery had lasted over 5 !/2 hours. When starting the surgery, Dr. Pirrello noticed that I had alot of scar tissue attached to my intestines. He said it took just 2 hours to work on that. There were times in the hospital, I wondered if I did the right thing. I usually don't handle pain too well. I am still hurting alot but trying to make it through that. While in the hospital, I sprained my right ankle. I also had to have my left armed checked for a blood clot. I asked Dr. Pirrello could I come home on Thursday so that I could rest at home with out being bothered so much. I may have came home too soon considering how long I was in surgery. I am very thankful to the hospital staff at CMC-Northeast for helping me start on this journey. There are alot of caring people on the surgical floor. Dr. Pirrello is a very caring doctor and I know he did alot for me to be able to have this done.

Home with a sick child
on April 17, 2008 8:49 am
Wanted to work today, but ended up having to take my son to the doctor. I found out what was wrong with him was strep throat. I have to be home with him today and possibly tomorrow too. Now, I am bored! I have weighted again since last time and I am at 36 1/2 lbs lost. This is all before surgery. I am getting more and more excited each time.

Today, I went for my pre-op with Dr. Pirrello. When I got on the scale, I held my breath because I know that I have been doing so good with my eating and losing weight. I have lost another 7 lbs. A weight-loss total since the middle of February is 31 1/2. I am already for this surgery and I can tell when I start to eat too much because I will feel bad.
