Surgeon Testimonial

John Gens M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Gens is the kindest, caring doctor I have ever met. He told me everything that I would experience and was 100% truthful. He saw me everday, even though I had complications unrelated to the procedure, he came everyday to see me. I recommend him to anyone considering gastric bypass surgery. My family felt very informed and involved because of his gentle ways.

25 more pounds to my goal weight!!
on May 5, 2013 6:35 am

It's hard to believe I have lost 131 pounds, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever be saying that. I have 25 more pounds to lose to be at my goal weight. I bought an eliptical for $50.00 at a yard sale. i start my workout tomorrow, no excuses. I have not been  very good at exercising since my surgery and the saggy skin shows it. It is up to me to reshape my body so I am doing it!!

I now wear a size 10 or 12 pants, depending on the style. How cool is that?? Funny thing is when I go shopping I always head to the plus size department, then realize I am not PLUS SIZE anymore.. Shopping in the juniors department now what a thrill. The clothes are much more cuter too.

Now for a health update.....I had been having a gnawing feeling in my stomach for a while now. Almost felt like hunger pains. Burning , gnawing feeling. I saw my surgeon and he referred me for an upper endoscopy. Turns out I have duodenum ulcers. I was prescribed medication so I am praying it works.

My youngest is graduating from college next Saturday, couldn't be prouder. Then I am off to Virginia for a week to visit my sister. I miss her so much!! In August I will be going to upstate NY ( my hometown) for my family reunion. Can't wait for my family to see the new me.

I need to post new pics soon.

Hooray! I am now overweight!!!
on February 12, 2013 4:23 am

Well, it's official. I am now "overweight", I reached my milestone! No longer morbidly obese or obese.31 more pounds and I will be "normal" lol, at least on the scales. I know you shouldn't be a slave to your scales, but seriously everyone on this site has been at one time or another.

What a tremendous feeling it is to reach this milestone.

I still see myself as "obese" when I look in the mirror. I get compliments everyday from my friends and coworkers, but I still see the "fat" lady in the mirror. I know it is a mental thing because my clothes are falling off me. From a size 24 pants to a size 16. Size 22/24 or 2x shirts to a size large. Even my shoe size and ring size has changed, lol.

I am losing tons of hair and it is very heartbreaking. I will try to get more protein in my diet and continue taking biotin.

Today may be the day I go buy a new outfit :)

100 pounds lost!!
on January 8, 2013 5:31 pm

Wow!! I can't believe I did it. I lost 100 pounds. Never in my life did I ever imagine that. I have 65 more pounds to lose to be at my own personal goal. I have learned one thing, if I don't get to my personal goal I will still be happier and healthier than I have been in 20 years!!!!

Under 200!!
on December 22, 2012 5:50 am

Today I  am celebrating my own personal victory. I am now under 200 pounds! I never thought I would ever be able to say that. Feeling so much healthier too. Wrapping all the gifts for Christmas, baking holiday cookies with my daughters and grandsons, reminds me how blessed I really am.

Merry Christmas to all my OB friends and families.

Normal?
on November 29, 2012 1:59 pm

What is normal? lol. I have never been normal. The BMI chart states that a "normal" weight for my height is 154 lbs. Oh how I want to be normal. I have 54 more pounds to lose to get to that normal weight. To no longer be morbidly obese, obese, overweight. I yearn for the day when my medical chart states, a healthy "normal" weight woman. I have lost 86 pounds since my journey. My only regret is I did not do this sooner.....
