I have been approved for Roux-en-y Gastric Bypass surgery for October, 8th, 2008. I am going through so many emotions from one minute to the next I can't even begin to explain it. Only those who have been there will know. I want to document everything I can for myself and for others contemplating this or any other surgery.
I currently weight in at 250lbs. My Goal is 150lbs.How Great that will be!!!!!
I have herd good things and bad things about this surgery and the Good are out weighing (hehehe) the bad.I have an excellent Surgeon, All reports are Great. I have tried Weight Watchers, Adkins, South Beach and Many Health Club Memberships over the years so I have tried to do it the Healthy way, to no avail.
So I am doing the best thing for me and the rest of my life. I know this is permanent and there is know holding me back once the surgery is complete!

Wow... I look at these photos side by side and it is still hard to get my head around how BIG I really was!!!!!!
No Wonder I felt so bad...I was dieing a slow horrible death. Now that I can sit back and see myself like never before I am so proud of how far I have come. I still have goals to achieve but LOOK at me NOW!!!!!!!!!

It's been six months already?

I never thought I would be a skinny person but I feel skinny when I look at the cloths I used to wear.
I'm so happy with my self and my choice for a healthy life. I was so uncomfortable in my old body.
I love my body now and am working on the next 50lbs I still want to loose.

Five Months Postop

I'm so bad about updating this web sight. I also have face book I up date. I'll try to update more on this one.

I still have a hard time trying to wrap my head around it was only five months ago I had my surgery.  I feel so Great! I'm a new person!

I have lost 58 pounds to date. The inches are what astound me. 11 inches on my hips are gone & 13 1/2 inches on my waist! Wow! I have had so many mild stones I have lost count! From the movie theater seat that magically got bigger to the rings falling off of my fingers. Even my feet are smaller. I love my new life! I can run up the stairs with out touching the railing. Before my surgery I had to pull myself up the stairs.
Then I would be out of breath. I didn't even realize how unhealthy I was. I feel like I have gotten my Youth back!!!

I am running out of clothes. I have given away all of my big clothes. I want to buy new ones because I can go into stores I have never even walked into before. I'm restraining as best as I can till I get to Goal. It is hard not to shop, for God sakes I work in the MALL! ARG!!!!! I have bought a few things but in smaller sizes than I should wear so I can wear them longer and maybe even when I hit goal.

I am so open about my WLS at work. Everyone is so supportive! All my customers come up to me and tell me they are happy for me and how wonderful I look! 
If anyone has read some of my earlier Blogs and wonders if it was worth it?
YES!!!!!!! I would recommend WLS to any one that is ready to make a lifetime change for their health!

Here is my beginning photo I show everyone and it keeps me on the right track!

Three Months in three days

Well it has been a wile since I last bloged. See I work retail and Christmas sucks up all of my time in November and December. I'm just glad I got to take my photos and update my profile in December.
I can't tell you enough how happy I am that I went through all the pain and aggravation of the surgery and that G-tube. I feel Ten Years younger!!!!
I wish I could have done this years ago!!
I know I'm in the "Honeymoon" stage but I feel so good physically. I can move and bend and stretch like I could ten tears ago. My clothes fitting and my outer appearance is just a BONUS to me.  I knew what was underneath all of that fat was a loving caring beautiful Woman. I haven't changed, just my Package. I'm sure some of you know what I mean when I say the Compliments some days seem empty or superficial. This surgery is not just about how I want to look.  Yes, I do want to look good.  I want to live a longer  time and have a healthier life style too.
As of today I have lost 47.5 pounds and eleven inches around my waist!!!!!
I'm in a size 14-16-18 depending on the garment. I started in a size 22, wow do I feel good!!!!!!!!
I'll take some more photos in a few days to update the visual side of this journey.

My Story

I have been over 200 pounds for at least 10 years. This  my last chance to get this weight off for good.  I have tried it all as have many people that have had this surgery. I still can not believe this surgery is going to take place. I have wanted this for five years at least!  A good friend of mine had this surgery 8 years ago and she is doing great same Doc. and same procedure. If I knew my Insurance was going to cover this procedure I would have done it  years ago. I was told by the Doc. office that you have to go through so many hoops to get approval with United Health Care. So I put this hope out of my mind.
Then the GP I was going to left her practice so I had to find another Doc.. I got a referral from a coworker to Dr. R. Panzer. My new GP is so great he did tests I have never had in my life. He also asked if I thought I was over weight. Now what woman in America doesn't think she is over weight? I said of course I know I am. He asked me if I have ever herd of the Lap band procedure? I broke down and cried. Of course I had. I asked will my insurance cover it. He said it is amazing what you can achieve once you put your mind to something. So he gave me a referral to Dr. Jawad.
The best in Ocala!!!!!!! We got the ball rolling and it hasn't stopped!!!!!!!!
It still seems so surreal. My first appointment with Dr. Jawad was on July 22nd, 2008. I received a letter in the mail dated August 12th, 2008 stating I was approved pending all of my requirements prier to surgery. I still can't believe it was approved so fast. Well that is my story.
