Joseph Caruana, M.D.
When I met with Dr. Caruana I was so nervous but he was very friendly and smiling. He seemed rush but continued to be pleasant. He actually weighed me which I was so embarassed but he didn't even blink at my weight and all he said was that I was a good condidate. I did express my concern about thrombosis and he was very honest and said so was he with all his patients. He did put my mind to ease by stating that I was a lower risk candidate for thrombosis, which made me feel a little bit better. He did state that aftercare was very important and that I did have to go to a meeting about nutrition and exercise which would take over 2 hours. I am actually looking forward to it. He also gave me some papers to read. I feel very confident in him and at more at ease about the surgery. I do think his staff could be a little more friendlier. They are not the friendlieast bunch of people but they are competent. The only negative thing I can say about Dr. Caruana is that I wish you could spend more time talking to him. I would give him so far a 9 out of 10.

Got A DATE!!!!

I received my approval from my insurance company last week.  So, I called Deann at the Dr's office and left message.  She called me back and the next available date was when I was on vacation!!! So, needless to say I had to pick the next date.  So, I am having surgery on September 10th!  I am so excited and nervous!  I have the nutrition/excercise class set up for August 21st. and my PCP on September 4th.  I can't believe it-it is really coming true!

Still Waiting!

I went to see Dr. Caruana on 5/29/07 and still have not received word if I am approved yet.  His office said it would be 2-3 weeks.  I did check last week with my insurance and they did not see an approval as of yet.  I am very nervous and that is all I think about!
