Surgeon Testimonial

Myur Srikanth, M.D.
Dr. Srikanth is a warm and funny surgeon. That's unusal in my experiences. He doesn't act "God-like", he treats you like you're a peer and that you have brains. Again, unusual for a surgeon!

Right before surgery, he came in to my room and introduced himself to my husband, and was warm and friendly.

After surgery, he assured me that everything was picture perfect and then assured my husband of the same thing.

He was very thorough about risks of surgery and shared with me his statistics compared to national statistics. I was already comfortable with his reputation before meeting him, but he cemented the deal.

His office has a very structured aftercare program, one in which I plan to adhere to the letter.

Starting over
on June 13, 2007 4:53 pm
Well, it seems that I've taken quite a vacation from being a good bandster. It all started going downhill over the holidays (yeah- that'd be December of last year!)

I had a hysterectomy on 1/5, and a subsequent surgery on 1/28. I fell into a depression of sorts and just never got back into the groove of drinking enough water, taking my vitamins, getting my protein in, and of course exercise.

Not to mention three weeks in Italy (yummy gelato! Every day!)

I'm awfully surprised that I didn't gain a ton of weight, because I felt very little restriction. I could eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and there wasn't a thing that I couldn't eat. OK- I didn't test out hotdogs.... but I'm assuming I probably could have eaten those too.

Turns out that after all of that, I only gained 6 lbs and didn't gain a dress size. Holy cow. That's almost miraculous!

I went in for a fill today and am ready to get back on track. Go, me!

Even though I've lost about 80 lbs- I'm going to call this ground zero.

Size 6, here we come!

My Story

I chose butterflies as my theme because I am ready to make the journey to become the person I was meant to be. I've hidden myself behind layers of flesh for many years now, sometimes giving myself a peek into the 'real' me, but eventually coming back to the protected me.

I have many theories of why I've chosen to hide behind this body, and according to most psychology reports my theories are right. At the ripe old age of 45, I've finally peeled away all of those internal layers and am ready to peel off the external layer. I'm ready to be me.

I chose lap-band surgery because it is the least invasive and, more importantly it's reversable. It also is a better fit for me because of the fact that I still need to make good food choices which is something I'm fairly good at. It keeps me from eating too much, which is my biggest issue. Weight loss is slower with the lap-band, but I feel that it will be more permanent for me. I've never had an issue taking it off. Keeping it off has been the struggle.

If you come across this and recognize me, I ask that you do not share this information with anyone. My choice is to keep this surgery a secret for now. I may tell people eventually, but I do not wish to have unnecessary judgment at this point in my life.

I started my journey at 245. I hope to end my journey at 145. I hope my journey is helpful to someone else.
