I am a happily married, mother of two. I started to look into the gastric bypass in 2001. At the time I was morbidly obese but I didn't seem to have many health issues. By 2003 I was my largest at 265 and I was seriously researching the surgery. I tried to get approved through Kaiser but had no co-morbidities at the time. By the following year I started having pre-diabetic issues. I changed insurance to Pacificare and started my journey through UC Davis in Sacramento. During this time I became a full fledged diabetic and started taking Glucovance. Also, during this time my job changed and I had to start the process all over with my new insurance (Blue Cross - CaliforniaCare). The new insurance covered all of the surgery as I met all of the minimum requirements for the surgery.

My life has so dramatically changed since having the surgery and feel that it was the best decision of my life. I am no longer a diabetic and I am well on my way towards my goal. I am hoping to make my goal by my 36th birthday, June 1 2007.
