Surgeon Testimonial

Peter Lalor
I am a little over one year out. Dr. Lalor is an excellent surgeon and what makes him exceptional is his genuine concern for the patient and the integrity he exhibits every step of the way. His advice has been invaluable and he is very forthright and is willing to not perform the procedure if you are not prepared to embrace all of the lifestyle changes that have to occur. I guess the best way to sum this up is honesty. He has also performed surgery on my brother who has also enjoyed excellent results.

My advice? Go for it!

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
Discipline for awhile, eat when stressed, gain weight, stressed more, eat more, lose 5 lbs, gain 7. Avoid mirrors, avoid situations where weight limiting. act like rude comments didn't affect me, compensate with humor.

My Story

My story? Really a common one. I fought obesity my whole life, remember fat comments from as early as kindergarten. Lost weight dramatically several times over the years, but regained it and then some. Fortunately, I was really pretty healthy, but was getting older, had sleep apnea and family history of diabetes. Was fortunate enough to meet my wife who has changed my life and has been very supportive. Intellectually, I knew that I was headed for serious health issues if I didn't do something drastic, but frankly, I was so tired of being overweight and deeply unhappy that I would do anything.  I encourage anyone contemplating the procedure to research it thoroughly, find the right doctor and have courage! VSG is not a magic cure, but a valuable tool to help you win this battle.
