Congratulations on making this decision to improve your life! I pray you will have a smooth recovery followed by a life time of improved health (no more chest pains for you) and success. Take it easy - remember when you get home to sip, sip, sip that water and get up and walking as best you can. I look forward to hearing about all the success that is going to come your way as a post-op. Here is a pre-mature "Welcome to the LOSER's BENCH!" and another CONGRATULATIONS! :-)

Monday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench!

Weights
on August 29, 2007 12:21 pm
I started to lift weights again yesterday for the first time.
It felt so good to get the muscles moving.
I have a 30 minute routine and right now it kicks my butt.
Plan on working out 3 days a week and walking 4.
We will see how it goes.

Weight

I have on my work out room walk a chart of my weight loss.
Thats not going to help very much when we erase it.
So each week I would like to log my loss in here.
So here we go:
289        0       0       7/23 - Pre-op
281.5    7.5    7.5    7/27 Post Op 3 days
270     11.5  19       7/30 - 1 week
262.5    7.5  26.5    8/06 - 2 weeks
259       3.5  30        8/13 - 3 weeks
256       3      33       8/20 - 4 weeks
254.5    1.5  34.5    8/27 - 5 weeks

Anyone with a better suggestion of how to do this please let me know.

Get away
on August 27, 2007 1:37 pm
We just got back from Lake George NY .
What a relaxing place.
We were going to be there all last week.
My doctor did not want me to be that far a way in the first 30 days.
So we had a nice long weekend.
Went swimming alot Saturday , that felt great.

Had a lot of new & BAD foods this weekend.
1)Roast beef with tomato
(very tasty)
2)Pizza
(I ate 1/2 slice then ate the chees off the rest. Also ate the cheese only off the second slice. It sat well with me. I am not a big fan of the crust anyway.)
3)cheesy garlic bread
(Took 1 bite and it tasted awful, threw out the rest)
4)Cheeseburger
(Got rid of the bun and ate the about 1/2 the patty)

This was over a 48 hour time frame and I did get in all my water and protein.

Best part for my Wife and Son was they got to met Rachael Ray at breakfast on Sunday.(I did not want to bother her so I left while they went over, I was embarrassed)

My Story

My weight has been up and down since my teen years, Mostly UP.
I have tried diets and exercise that worked for a short time , but put the weight and more back on.In 2000 I had my best results , losing 90 lbs to reach my goal of 180.
At that time I met my beautiful wife Nanette.S
tarting a new postion overnight during that time my weight started to slowly creep up.
2005 when trying to fit into my work clothes , I realized that they were not fitting any longer.
I jumped on the scale and saw my weight was 320lbs.
My wife went out to buy me new clothes that were size 50.
At that point like so many others I needed to do something again.
Through diet and exercise over the next 9 months I lost 60 lbs.
In December 2006 I was rushed to the hospital for difficulty breathing.
I spent 3 days in the hospital and when I left had a 2 week prescription for prednisone.
This stuff worked great but after the 1st week gave me a appetite like a gorilla, helping put 10-15 lbs back on me.
I tried the same routine again for months with no avail.Thats when I decided I needed WLS.
I originally was going to get the lap band, but through seminars and word of mouth found that RNY would be best for me.
I hit a plateau and for the last few months have been at 285 lbs 44.8 BMI.I hope to be at my goal of 180 once again
