Good Weekend
on August 9, 2009 10:40 pm
I did well this weekend - went to the gym and spent about an hour each day on the treadmill and bikes.  I also managed to stay on the low carb eating plan and am still in heavy ketosis.  My new scale should arrive tomorrow and I will be interested in seeing what my morning weight, body fat, hydration, and bone density will be.

Working steadily toward my first goal of 30 lbs by Oct 2nd... I don't get my first fill for a month and Dr. Naim said I will have very little restriction once my stomach is healed and I am eating regular food.  I am keeping meals to 1/2 to just under 1cup and plan to keep this up until I get some real restriction...

and I am13.5 pounds lighter.  My original goal was to lose 30 lbs by my birthday on Oct. 2, but I am thinking I might adjust that to 40 lbs :)

I saw Dr. Naim for just a few minutes today - he checked my incisions and asked if I was having any trouble - and we made an appointment for my first adjustment on September 2nd.  It will be an extra week out because he is attending a conference at my 4-week mark.

Talked to several people in the waiting room and everyone is very happy with their progress to date.  One girl had her surgery on Dec. 12th and has already lost 95 lbs - very good for under 8 months.  Something I am hoping I can do as well.  The Dr. advised that lap over band generally produces much slower results, but I plan on proving him wrong in my case.

New beginnings :)

New Beginning
on August 1, 2009 11:03 am
July 30th underwent lap band surgery.  This is a new beginning and a second chance to use surgery as a tool for weight loss.  My RnY went well, I lost a lot of weight and kept it off for 8 years, but emotional drama and going back to my old ways of using food for comfort added 50 pounds back in the last 2 years.  This time I know what I need to do in order to live healthier and reach and maintain a healthier weight.

A new beginning...
