Surgeon Testimonial

Michael Nizzi, D.O.
I instantly felt at ease when as soon as I entered Grand Traverse Surgery. Everyone is so pleasant, the nurses were friendly.... Mary Kay (bariatric coordinator) is a sweetie and was very informative. Angie that made all my appts for pre-op testing, who was also the first one to have bariatric surgery there in TC, was more then willing to discuss her personal story with me and that meant alot. Dr. Nizzi is great ! I had been wishy washy about which surgery to have, LapBand or RNY and by the time he got done going through the surgery processes for both, I knew without a doubt RNY would be the best. He isn't afraid to put it out there and is out to strive for 100% excess weight loss for his patients. From my experience with Dr. Nizzi and GT Surgery thus far, it has been a very pleasant one and I would recommend them !

Monday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench! ~ JudyAnne

Met the psychologist today and I passed! WHOOPIE ! LOL I knew I wasn't psycho, just fat and depressed ! Kinda weird tho because I had to do a little test after (can't remember the name), it had 560+ questions, true or false. And they were so dumb LOL Example: "I like to read mechanic magazines." Ahhhhhhhhh NO LOL So does that make me a weirdo? LOL Anyways all is good ! Next week is stress test !

Met with the surgeon today. Really like Dr. Nizzi. Grand Traverse Surgery in general really made me feel at ease. I have definitely decided on the Lap RNY. I know in my heart now that this is the right choice for me, the only choice ! I am a little disappointed because I was really hoping to have the surgery in Jan or begining of Feb but Doc wants to do some pre-op testing which I know is good because it will help reduce any unexpected surprises during surgery. I also met the nutritionist today. She is very nice. Boy oh boy do you have to get alot of protein in afterwards huh? LOL No I knew that but I didn't really realize how little I got in now. So I think I will start trying out different protein shakes to find out which is the best so I can have them stocked before the surgery. Next Appts: Psycholigist next week, Dec 29th I have a stress test, and Jan 4 I have a sleep test. And then on Feb 6th I believe, is when I will have the Upper GI (endoscopy) which I am dreading but I know it has to be done.
