21 days to go
on November 24, 2008 8:02 pm
I'm wrestling with everything I need to do to prepare for my surgery and with getting my head straight for the next 3 weeks to go into this thing running.  I've learned that the food I think I'll miss isn't that great, it's mostly easy.  It takes effort to plan meals, snacks and beverages.  I've always been a path of least resistance girl and I just have to figure out how to smooth my way.  I'm hoping to learn a lot from folks' experience here to help secure my success.

I'm reading Susan Maria Leach's book Before and After, Living and Eating Well after Weight Loss Surgery and its helpful to know the end result will be my goals if I keep focused and remind myself that I'm not depriving myself.....but, actually giving myself a gift.

My Story

My name is Michelle.  I've dealt with weight issues since age 20.  I developed PCOS and the nightmare started....weight gain, acne, infertility, more weight gain.  I've taken off and put on probably 3 of myself in weight.  Surgery helped the rest of the symptoms, but I didn't phase the weight until I was placed in a Metformin Study for women with PCOS.  I began taking the med and began to melt.  I melted away about 90lbs and didn't know what was happening to me was dumping syndrome caused by the med.  Hey, it worked for a while and keeps my bloodwork in line, but I began failing to respond to the drug and the weight began to creep up...to within 15 lbs of my heaviest recorded weight.  I'm tired of the battle and ready to win the war....

I refuse to age frumpishly and sickly.......I will go kicking and screaming to hold on to my vigor and some semblance of my youth and healthy self.  I want to physically feel good again...buy small sizes from the sale racks again...travel to swimsuit destinations and not just ride on the back of our motorcycle, but feel good enough about myself to ride one of my own ..I'd like to try my hand at runnning ...burn up the tennis court again...and roller skate with my husband!

I have a great husband and wonderful parents who are rooting me on and supportive of my journey....Thank you God!

Let's begin the journey!!!
