Happy 2012 to all!!
on January 3, 2012 8:22 pm
Its  way too long since I have updated.
I have maintained  my weight from  when i reached my -100 lbs loss 2010 May a year out from WLS DS.
I  weigh in at 120 -125 lbs.  the highest i got after WLS  since 2009 surgery was 130 lbs.... oh hell NO... that was scary! I was going through a rough period.

So many good changes in  my LIFE. and some not so good.  The main thing is I am healthy today..with Gods will I can look forward to some plastics.... i get bummed ..but Victoria Secret and I are best friends  so I can look some what ok on the outside LOL
Eating is  somewhat a challenge.. I get burnt out so quick on foods. Then I resort to my back up  cold cuts and cheese.
I became  a clothes whore...eww sounds awful..but i did not comprehend  clothes will fit and always be there. Had it not been one day realizing that I FIT INTO ANY thing i wanted and it would still be there  another day month year.. get over it and be happy with what I have in my closet.

I can say I praise all my dear OH  friends for all the encourgement through out my journey.... I don't spend time  on comments  but i read and lurk  at least 4 times a month. I miss the bunch from my EARLY DAYS HERE.BUT SO HAPPY TO SEE THE NEW ONES HERE.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL,
ROSE  UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.

One Year of amazing changes 5-15-10
on May 19, 2010 10:16 pm

It is now 1 year since my life changed forever with NO regrets with my DS surgery.  l was un happy for so many reasons due to my weight along with aches and pains  prior to my DS. I am still learning  on how my new"plumbing" will react to foods that i am  starting to bring back into my" menu". I have days that I eat like bird
then days that I am a bottomless pit.  My main goal is to eat anything that is or has protein in it. I still stay away from breads/pasta/tortillas.  I have no love for them as  I did before my DS. I have learned to relax and eat slowly. I would rush and try to keep up with my family/friends  eating lunch/dinner and only  to pay the price of discomfort and defeat.
Yes I do eat  desert once in a while  with  NO REMORSE...... no big deal in my life at this point. If I was still 50-60 lbs from goal at one year out that would be a different  story. I am at my GOAL   so that sums  it up!

Labs will be done this Friday 5/21/10. I will post my results as soon as the come in . I am  concerned on my  D and A levels as they need to  come up.

I was in a loose size 18/20 pants and  1x-3x tops(depending on brands) I  wear  size 3/5 some 7's pants & sm/med tops, shoe size 5 1/2  to 6  I use to fit in 6 1/2 to 7  shoes.  I can now wear BOOTS!!!  I  weigh 113 lbs... I lost 100 lbs
AWESOME feeling I must admit. I shop way too much ...I see it as....  I don't spend  it on food...... well YWIM...

My husband is loving my "energy" as I now  am not tired as I was prior to WLS. I rarely use my NSAIDs unless my lower back/cramps  act up.

I am so grateful to the DS   forum and my friends that keep in touch . I don't post every lil detail or issue that may be going on... that is just me (private) but  I do  read up on the DS forum as much as i can.  I love the updates and before and after posts.. So I will do the same and update my pics ....ok  real soon!  I attend the Paclap meetings  once  a month and really look foward to them.  I feel  it is so very important  and it helps to learn new things every month plus the Pot luck food is ALWAYS  YUMMY!

To all my  switch sisters... keep rockin  your DS!! May our next year be as successful as we can  make it.
Peace & Love

Rose

2-7-2010 50 today & 9 months out
on February 7, 2010 10:51 pm
Ok ... here I am just new at being 50 years young!  I  have never felt better in my life as I do today.  I have not  lost much in the past month or so  and that was to be expected. I am cool with where I am at with my weight. I get  comments on "younger looking" and who wouldn't  with  80 + lbs gone... I had my labs  done last week and will need to tweak the Vit D up and Iron is trending  down..I expected this would be a challange and will deal with it  and move on forward.
I am so grateful  for the chance at a new and healthier life. I cannot wait until the weather is warmer  to get out and do more.

7 months out 12-15-09
on December 18, 2009 10:14 pm
It's been way over due  for posting my updates. I feel so much better with 70 lbs  gone.
I DODGED/AVOIDED  diabetes and so many comorbidities that are prone to my family.
I take less of my Nsaids  if at all any for my knee and lower back.
Clothes pre-op:  size18  pants   Tops 1x-3x.. shoes size 7  and  now i currently use size  6 pants ..Tops sm/med & shoe size 6
What a change in styles that  are available and cost is less( I bargain hunt).

I eat most foods and kinda of stick to what  sits well in my tummy. I  do venture and try "new" foods but most  times my tatste  buds have changed but the rule is protein first. My  6 month labs were  good ..my  D  was tanked pre-op.. a crappy level 8 and  now it is at 50!!! yes it could be higher but at least it did go up.  It was very important to do labs pre-op to check  levels that were tanked or low and start vitamins pre surgery.

I attend 2 support  meetings a month and really look foward to the Paclap meetings! We really open up on our issues and our lives post op. With the recent  plastic  surgery patients that attend ..I   have seen GREAT results .. my turn will be in 2012  ( with Gods will) I hope to save enough $$ or heck maybe get a darn loan if need be!

Overall I just feel so happy and blessed that  the DS journey has been  easy to follow . My OH Friends are  so very caring and helpful . I don't know what heck I would do without  Vitalady(Michelle)  LARRA and all her tips and advice  and  so many more people it would take 5 pages to list them all.

I just am so grateful to so many here on OH and to "surgery wars"  not  for  me  but for the pre-ops who NEVER heard of all their  WLS  options... also Eternally grateful to  the DMHC that  made Kaiser  send me to IMO the best DS surgeon  Dr John Rabkin. He and his staff are amazing and made feel very comfortable through out the whole process from begining to present day.

My husband and children are very supportive of my choice  for WLS and now see the results of  this new life that  we share together. We do more together as a family  since I now participate  instead of  staying home alone in my misery with aches and pains..
I hope to  post that I am at goal by  my Birthday in February 2010  so about 20lbs  to go we'll see!

Just listen to your body and if something doesn't feel right  call your PCP/surgeon or get your self to ER ASAP.

6 weeks out 6-23-09
on June 23, 2009 6:10 pm
It  has been  a real crazy ride!!! I am getting  used to my "new" life.

1. Less BM ( happy about that!) 2 times a day versus 6-7 times
2. Eat what  i feel will  sit good in my tummy & sometime make mistakes!
3. Getting more energy day by day!
4. I walk with out  hip/knee/feet pain!
5. My husband makes nice comments on my looks & walks with me!
6. My adult children are happy that i do more with them (movies, picnics, shopping without complaining about my aches and pains).
7. I feel like  i want to  RUN!!!  but will wait  a few or at least till  i get the ok by  DR R.
8. I no longer crave sweet stuff, i want PROTEIN!
9. WATER!!! is a must  in any  flavor just need to drink it  more!
10. VITAMINS  oh  what a struggle but all i know it is for life so I take them to LIVE HEALTHY!

I feel ready to go to work ( sheesh never did i think i would say that!)  I have lost 27 lbs!  Only 1 person other than my kids   & husband have noticed! That's cool with me but just wait until i lose  another 25 (HATERS BEWARE!)
I am not dropping weight fast like others but  that's me and i have my own agenda i guess!
I will see Rabkins office PA  6-24-09 and see if I am  on the right path!
