I finally saw Dr. Nohr Jan. 23/07 after waiting over 2 years for the appt. He is a very quiet man, but caring and thoughtful. He answered all of my questions - most before I had a chance to ask!! He is very busy, but did not rush at all. He was direct about the surgery and the risks involved.

    Monday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench!

less than 6 weeks to go!!!

I can't believe how the time is flying by!  I am less than six weeks from my surgery date & can hardly wait.  I am so excited & looking forward to beginning my life anew!  Several of my friends have been trying to discourage me from this surgery, but as you may well guess, they are all of the size 5 variety!  They have no idea of the struggles I have gone through or that lay ahead as I age.  I have made it very clear that I will not be dissuaded & that they are either with me on this journey & be supportive or they can stay away from me.  I will not be sabotaged!!!

I have surgery scheduled for Nov. 26/07.

I am soooooo excited - I am counting the days (&nights) to Nov. 26/07.  I was first referred to Dr. Nohr in Oct/04, so this has been quite the journey so far.  I have lost 16 pounds to date & will hopefully be able to lose another 15 before surgery.   In July of this year I completed the 60K walk for the Weekend to End Breast Cancer.  It was a personal challenge to complete this distance carrying almost 300 pounds!!!  I just kept telling myself that if I could get through this year, next year would be a piece of cake!!!  I certainly hope so!!!  I trained on my trusty treadmill daily for 5 months and am maintaining an hour a day.  Hope to keep this up post-surgery.

My Story

I am 45 yrs old, have battled weight my entire life.  I have yo-yoed for years trying the latest diet fads & trends.  I have put myself through hell  to try to get this under control but to no avail.  I have a surgery date for November 26/07.  I am so relieved.  There is finally a light at the end of the tunnel & it doesn't appear to be a train!!! My husband & children are not  supportive of my decison to undergo this surgery, but I have explained it is my choice and I have done a lot of research and put a lot of thought into my decision.  I have 4 sisters who are very supportive and I know with them behind me this will be a truly successful journey.
