Surgeon Testimonial

Stefan M. Pettine, M.D.
Dr.Pettine was very nice and informative. He made me feel at ease with my decision and I felt confident that I am in good hands. His office staff was very nice and the furniture was comfy. They have a structured weight loss program with seminars, support groups, bariatric navigators ( Michelle carpenter is great). I have not had surgery yet but right now I would rate my overall experience at a 9.... I am totally excited about my surgery date Jan. 10th 2011...

After surgery--------

I had my surgery Gastric Bypass RNY on Jan. 10, 2011.. I have to say that I have the best Bariatric doctor in the world. Dr. Pettine is the nicest man and he really cares. On a scale from 1-10 I would rate him at 100.. I recommend my doctor to everyone. My husband is also having the same surgery and DR. Pettine. He likes him alot and loved the way he treats me. Poudre Valley Hopital is very nice and the Nurses here are great. Rik, Stevie, Melissa, Lindsey, Angela, Norma, Marge and all the rest of the Nursing Staff I am so grateful for you all. You all care and thats what makes a great Nurse, Nurse Aide and Doctor.. I love you all and you will each hold a special place in my heart for the rest of my life... Thank you.. — Sabrina Moreno

5 months post op. Lovin life!!!
on June 14, 2011 2:45 pm
So today I am 5 months and 4 days post op Gastric Bypass. I am living life to the fullest and feeling great. I weight in at 256 now. I started this journey at 372 pounds and weighed 343 before surgery after weight loss pre op. I have lost 87 pounds since surgery 01-10-2011 and have lost 116 total. I am almost at what I weighed 12 years ago. My life has been busy and a couple of weeks ago my hubby asked me to renew our vows with a huge wedding I never had. So we have been getting the money saved and I have my wedding dress picked out which is a beautiful burgundy ball gown. We are remarrying 03-26-2012 so I am hoping to be at 180 pounds before our wedding. I love myself now and take pride in the way I look. I cant believe I was so held back by the weight I was carrying around. I hope that if you are struggling with super morbidy that you seriously look into this sugery. Research it and know this is what you want before you go for it but know the risks. I do have some loose skin which im lifting weights to get it under control and I have lost some hair but I have thick hair so im ok with it. I still hate protien shakes but I get my protien in with the foods I eat. I hope you all our doing well. I am on facebook all the time so add me my name is sabrina speers moreno on there. My hubby also had the surgery and has lost a total of 151 pounds you can see his and my you tube videos at Footballmom4. I miss you all and hope to talk to you soon. Take care my friends.

seeing results!!!
on April 17, 2011 4:55 pm
I went to my primary doctor yesterday for some bakk issues ive been having( a pulled muscle pinching the nerve) anyhow they weighed me when I was there and I currently weight 279 pounds.. Let me tell you when I started this journey I weighed a huge 372 pounds so I am 8 pounds away from a total weight loss of 100 pounds.. I am sooo happy and excited to see these dramatic results.. I cant wait for summer to get here cause I plan on spending the whole time outside with my kids swimming and playing with them like I should have been doing all along.. My clothes are so big on me now but Im gonna try to make them fit until im down to 250 cause I cant afford new clothes and at the rate im going there is no use in buying new clothes just so they can be to big on me in a few months.. I have a family reunion planned for July so my goal is to get under the 250 which I am sure I can do.. I am soo proud of myself and even though I needed this tool to do it I would not change it for the world!!

My Story

I will start at the beginning. I was overweight as a child then I met my husband at the age of 15. I married and had my first son at the age of 16. I then gained about 50 lbs. I tryed to lose that weight but could not. I went through some depression having a child and getting married young. Then I got pregnant again 4 years later. I was 20. I barely recovered from having my second son before I turned around and was 300lbs and pregnant again. I had my 3rd son at 21. My weight was blooming out of control and the more I tryed to get it off the more I seemed to gain. My Mom helped me out alot during these trying times of being a young mother and wife. We became best of friends. In 2005 she found out she had cancer and started chemo and agressive surgery to remove the cancer. I went into another spiral of depression. In March 2006 my mother fell in her home and she was then told to be put on hospice. I became her caregiver. We laughed and we cried. I feel satisfied in the time we spent together in her last days. On May 16 2006 she passed away with malignant melanoma.(Skin Cancer) I felt I had noone anymore. I ate the food to fill the void of my heart... My family and I ended up homeless shortly after that because my husband lost his job and we were living paychek to paychec ne ways. Then some crazy news. I found out I was 5 months pregnant in a homless shelter in 2007... We got our own house and I went to work right after my 4th son was born and we have done pretty well since. We moved to Colorado but I had reached my highest weight of 372lbs. My doctor put me on another diet. I had already been on 37 diets plus all the different excersize plans. I am currently down 336 and had my consoltation for gastric bypass. I am ready to feel better about myself and confident of surviving to see my family grow. After all this I try to stay positive. I have great kids who wouldnt trade me for the world and a great husband and we believe that when worse comes to worse if we stick together we can get through anything. My Mom would of loved to see me go through my weight loss journey but I know shes watching and lovin every bit of seeing her daughter get her life back under control.
