*****UPDATE*****
I Got my surgery date scheduled for 4/15/09
HI!!!

I'm Sarah. I'm 26 years old, I work full time at an insurance company and I go to school full time as well. I'm trying to finish up my RBA and hope to graduate this upcoming December. In my spare time I ride and show American Saddlebred horses, love to go boating, fishing and just about anything outdoors.  I begain this journey a long time ago as I've struggled with weight loss all my life. I can remember always being the biggest girl in the room.  I didn't seriously consider weight loss surgery until two years ago. I have been approved and find out my surgery date tomorrow 3/31/2009. I hear it will be soon. I'm full of nerves and excitement.

One week.....
on April 8, 2009 6:07 am
One week and its my turn.  I'll be hopping up on the slab and begin my rebirth. I'm so excited and nervous all together. Sometimes I say to myself "what am i thinking!!" cause it is scary to be put under and have your body altered like that. We don't know all the long term effects, and each and every person is different. I could have completely different results and the changes in my body could be crazy. But I know its what i want to do, and have to do.  I want control of my life.

Liquid diet is hard.  During the day its not so bad but when I get home with my roomate and he orders my favorite pizza... to say the least it was hard. Im proud of myself. I've never been able to stick to something so militantly.  I guess the fear of surgery not going well is keeping me chugging broth and shakes.

mmm....liquids

So I'm on day two of liquids.  Its not so bad, I was really relieved when I was told I could have clear broths too. Everything they have on my diet guidelines is way sweet, the carnation instant breakfasts, slim fast, Popsicles, jello...I like sweets but not allll the time. So now I'll look  forward to my chicken or beef broth.  What is really hard is where I work, it seems daily they want to reward us with some type of food. Yesterday they threw a pizza party because we met some goal, it was hard to resist. But I keep remembering the rewards of taking care of myself before and after surgery will be greater than anything i could put in my mouth.

When I went to my surgery consultation the Dr. informed me that I probably won't be able to ride my horse for a few months out of surgery,  I was hoping that was going to be a good way to get my exercise.  So before I go in, I'm going to get back in the saddle. I haven't really rode since October and I feel like the lack of exercise and 20 lb gain has left me a little nervous about riding.  Especially since I brought my horse home out of training. I'm trying to do him myself, and he is a firecracker sometimes. Luckily I also have a fat and hearty lesson horse Tinkerbell that I can practice on a little before surgery.

Time is flying
