Surgeon Testimonial

Thomas Clark
My first impression of Dr. Clark was very good. I got the feeling like he was very experienced with the surgery and knew what he was doing. In his seminar, he's extremely helpful and makes sure to touch on every base to inform all potential patients of the advantages and disadvantages. I felt very confident in having him operate on me. I was pleased with his combined method of the vertical band and the gastric bypass. I feel that it's a very thorough method, and it definitely worked well for me. His office staff are all very informative, and I've never had a problem getting my questions answered or receiving a call back from any of the doctors or nurses. He seems personally connected with his patients, and though he has a high volume of patients that come to him, he never seems to forget a face (no matter how much it may change). I would definitely recommend any one I know that's interested in getting the surgery to him. rnrnThe only thing I had a problem digesting at his office (metaphorically of course), was the nutritionist and her aide. I saw her once, and during that session, she was not very helpful and did not really set a strict guide for what I expected to be eating throughout the rest of the year. She was nice and friendly, but I did not feel I benefitted from her advice. Whats more, is they offer a couple of programs for different prices, and you're required to purchase at least one. I don't feel like I really saw anything for the money paid for the program. I'm not even exactly sure what it was paid for, to be honest.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
Before surgery, my behavior and emotion with weight was like a roller coaster. It was always up and down. One day I hated myself because of the way I looked, and the next day I was trying to find ways to accept who I was and love myself... fat or not. I was always too proud to acknowledge how I really was. In my eyes, I was beautiful and didn't need to change. Eventually, I learned of my high blood pressure and pre-diabetes and new it was time to get a hold of my problem. I knew it was time to do something. I was on the waiting list at portsmouth for about a year and a half when I found out that I was accidentally dropped of the list and that they would only be able to put my back on somewhere in the middle. That's when I decided that I would have to...

Turkey Day Already?
on November 23, 2005 1:56 pm
Well... Turkey day is tomorrow. All I have to say is I'm glad I'll at least be able to enjoy some of it, and have the comfort of not being able to go overboard.

I've decided that I think I'm going to get a breast augmentation surgery. I meet with the surgeon next week for my first consultation, so we'll see how that goes. I haven't made up my mind for sure, but I think it wouldn't be a bad thing. I'll save the big stuff like a tummy tuck for later after kids. The hubby is supportive, but only if it's something I really want. As he reminds me all the time, "I think your breasts are perfect the way they are, but if it'll make you happy, then go for it."... So I don't know, lots of thinking to do.

Well, other than that, not a lot is up. It's lunchtime the day before thanksgiving, and I'm having CHICKEN!! YUM!

k. bye.

Updates
on November 9, 2005 1:54 pm
I know I'm a slacker and haven't updated with my 6 month post-op pictures, but just hang in with me.... I may skip a month and just post every other month from now on...just so there's more of a dramatic difference.

Weight Loss Update:

Pre-Op- 22-24 pants (juniors was an unknown demension to me), XL or XXL in panties (8-9...depending on cut, sometimes 10), a very uncomfortable 38 B in bras, XXL in shirts, and a 10-11 wide in shoes.

I'm now in a size 17 Juniors, 15 regular for pants, size M-L (6-7) panties (depending on the cut), a very comfortable 36 B in the bra department, and a M-L shirt. Also, funny enough I'm now in a 9 1/2 - 10 in shoes.

I can eat anything now, including breads, pastas, rice, meat... the whole nine yards. Weird thing with noodles is that I seem to tolerate thicker noodles better than thinner ones. Angelhair pasta makes me want to yack, and thick fettucini and spaghetti noodles do just fine... I dunno. Strange stuff. But yes, though I can tolerate anything, I can definitely tell I can't eat like I used to... which is a REALLY good thing. I can eat a lot more than I used to eat right after surgery... but when I watch my husband eat and compare what I eat to him... I realize my stomach is nothing like it used to be.... considering I used to out-eat my husband on pizza night (and for those of you who've seen pictures, my husband's a skinny tall guy, lol).... I hate people with high metabolisms, heh.

Anyways, that's all the updating for now. Ta!

Nice WOW moment
on November 3, 2005 1:54 pm
My Husband just had his 23rd birthday yesterday. I took him to a hibachi japanese restaraunt with my family. It was a lot of fun. Luckily enough, I was able to eat a little bit everything, the soup, rice, vegetables shrimp, scallops, steak, and chicken. I had enough for left overs for today too... but I forgot to bring them to work.. poo :(. They'll have to wait till tomorrow.

I hit another nice WOW moment this morning. See, all my clothes are currently in Cancun along with the rest of my luggage... and i don't know when (or if) I'll ever see them again... so this morning, I was getting ready for work, and I ran into a shortage of shirts. So... I was walking around in my bra, and my sister-in-law (who is a little tiny mexican {also she's staying at our house for the time being, because she and my brother are having problems}) asked me if I needed a shirt, and I said "Yeah... but I really doubt your clothes will fit me"... she handed me a pretty purple shirt anyway, and low and behold... IT REALLY FITS!!! It's a size medium, and you'd think it was made just for me!! WOO HOOO!!! *dances around*.

So yeah... getting skinnier by the day and I LOVE it! Well, there's not much more to update about, so I'm gonna scoot. Tootles!
