orientation went well
on February 26, 2011 6:22 pm
so I just got home from my trip to Windsor where I had my orientation for bariatric surgery. Pretty much everything they talked about I had already known from researching on my own or had learned thru all the great people on this site. Except for one small fact, I wasnt aware that I should no longer chew gum. The reasons seem valid to me and if they say no gum, then no gum it is. I spent a total of 2 nights in Windsor where I was able to spend some quality time with my girlfriend Judy. It was a much needed break

I GOT 4 APPTS at the end of the orientation.

March 17th with the nurse
march 24th with the Doctor
April 27 with the social worker
May 24th nutrition class

I really did not expect to be getting these dates so I am super stoked that this is moving along. march 24th I already have appt with my current nutritionist in London so I will need to rebook with her

I am loving life more and more each day

Weigh in day Feb 22 2011
on February 22, 2011 7:48 pm
For the past week I have been feeling better about my weight and positive I have lost more this past month. First sign was when I climbed the stairs at my nieces house and did not need the handrail and was not in pain during or after the climb. In case you dont know, I used to dread climbing the stairs at home and those were only 7. the pain from those 7 steps was horrible. not anymore. Second sign was while waiting in the car, I removed my seat belt extender and tried to put on the belt and it clicked, yayyyyy. It was tight and not really comfortable enough to drive in but I got it closed.

Today I went in to the nutritionist with mixed feelings. Was I REALLY losing the weight or was it jsut my mind playing tricks on me. well when I finally climbed onto that scale I was down 12 more pounds. Thats sooo frigging awesome. down 24 pounds in 3 months and this is all before my surgery. I am feeling so much more positive about this, the best I have felt in years.

Thusrday I am headed to Windsor for the night to hang out with my girlfriend. I have my orientation meeting for the gastric bypass surgery Thursday night. I am planning on celebrating Valentines day with her before and after the meeting as we were not able to be together on the 14th. Judy is my support person thru this time in my life and I know I can count on her.

I will try to make a post about my meeting when I get home Friday

First post and hopefully not the last one

hi, so for those of you curious enough to know more about me, this is the place to come. My real name is Jason, but most of my friends and family call me Jake. My nickname on here is Sasquach. Sasquach is who I was known as on chat boards when I used to chat.

I live in Dorchester On. which is just outside of London. I first got a referal from my doctor for bariatric surgery in Aug 2010. I have since gotten the letter and have my Orientation in Windsor on the 24th of Feb 2011.

I have a lot of health issues which include, sleep apnea, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I also have pain in my back and knees. I also quit smoking Sept 7 2010 and have not had one drag off a smoke since, although it is very hard and I crave it often. All my issues are currently under control.

I began seeing a nutritionist at the request of my doctor and have so far I have lost 11 pounds. as of me writing this it has been over a month since my last weigh in and I know I have lost more weight, I can feel it, especially in my knees. I go for next weigh in on the 22nd of Feb.

I will try to update this blog as my journey continues.
