Here we go again!!!!

Today I met with the surgeon again and he was impressed with my 30 lb weight loss in 30 days. (I was suprised myself knowing that I had gone off of the diet for a total of 8 days and still lost weight.  Truly a wow moment for me).  I went into the office to let him know that I had decided to go ahead and get the gastric bypass as scheduled on June 9th of next month.  While we were talking the doctor asked me about my support and I told him that I have my husband and my mom.  He asked me what they thought about the gastric bypass and I told him that my husband does not want me to get it but said that he would stand by my decision anyway and he went on to ask me about my mother and I told him that she did not want me to have the gastric bypass either and he said uh oh.

It has been his experience that people that have good support were most successful with the procedures that they wanted.  He said that he is not in the business of making people have a surgery that they did not want and that my weight loss so far had been good so he said that he would perform the lapband surgery on me but I need to lose 20 more lbs.  I was so happy. My surgery has been postponed until sometime early July.  I go back to see the surgeon on June 26th for a weight check and I will be rescheduled then.  

I prayed and gave it to God and this is my result. I can lose the 20 lbs without a problem and I will not go off of the diet at all.  In one month I will have lost more then 20lbs.

Lost 5.5 lbs since last Friday!!!! But I got a big...

Well I'm proud to say that I have officially lost 5.5 lbs since I weighed last Friday (that was 4 days ago).

I was weighed today at my pre-op appointment and that was a happy point of the visit.  The disappointing part was that my doctor said that he wont perform lapband surgery on patients with a BMI over 50??????  because he says that their numbers show that it doesn't work in those patients. 

I started out talking to a young surgeon that read in my file that I was to have lapband.  But when the lead doctor came in he started talking, at first I thought we were both on the same page, and then the young doctor says oh I saw mention on lapband in the file..... apparently the lead doctor was talking about gastric bypass ..... so the doctor looks at me and says remember when you first came into my office, I said that gastric bypass would be a better option for you?????  I said yes but I want lapband (and that's what I was approved for)...  so then he says ok well my patients that got lapband 2 years ago are  now coming back wanting me to take the band out because it didn't work, and now I've had to take them out and perform gastric bypass.  So if you still feel strongly about lap band then I suggest that you go to the lapband site and find a doctor....  and when you find one call me and let me know and we all can sit down and talk about it.  

In disbelief I looked at the doctor again and said "So do you mean that I cant have the surgery that I want???  He said that he wouldn't do it and that there are many doctors that do nothing but lapbands all day everyday and they say that it works for their patients...  He said their numbers show that the lapband works but ours dont.  So I kept my appointment and told him that I would consider having gastric bypass and would let him know in a couple of weeks.  I told the doctor that I would continue on the preop diet until I go back to see him by that time my BMI will be under 50....  But he made no mention of reconsidering performing the lapband on me....  

I got in my car and started to drive as tears fell from my eyes...  It has been a very emotional day for me!!!!!!!  I feel like I have aged 10 years

PRE-OP DIET SUCCESS!!!!!!! DOWN 20LBS IN 15...

Well I am proud to announce that I have lost 20 of the 46 pounds that I have planned to lose and have until June 6th to lose the remaining 26 pounds.  Today I went to the doctors office to be weighed and I almost hit the floor when I stepped on the scale and it said 431 I was like OMG!!!! 20 pounds down in 15 days!!!!!  woooo whooooo!

Until later, and at the rate I'm going I will be under 400 lbs by June !!!!!!! (and that's before surgery)

Sooooo hungry!!!!!

OMG!!!!!!   at first the diet was going ok..... then I went to the introductory class and found out that i wasnt doing it right.   Instead of having one shake and two ww meals I should have been having 2 shakes and one ww meal plus two small fruits.... I've been trying to do it and at certain times of the day I get super hungry so a couple of times i have drank 1 cup of broth and that makes all the difference.  I will call the surgeons office today to tell him what I've been doing so that I can find out if its ok or not because I dont want to mess my weight loss up.  I'm supposed to weigh in every week but dont have a scale at home that I can weigh myself on.  Just bought one but who knows when it will come from UPS.
