Clifford Deveney, M.D.
Dr. Deveney is a brusque, busy guy, who has tons of experience behind him but not a lot of time for patient interaction. His nurse, Vicki, is wonderfully patient and accessible, and she really is the go-to person throughout the experience. I have no complaints about Dr. Deveney, though-he did a fantastic job on me with zero complications. I felt well-supported throughout the whole process.

It's Real Now

Yesterday I had my pre-op tests and anesthesia interview, and all went well. Vicki, Dr. Deveney's nurse, was wonderful. She took the time to answer all my and Tom's questions, and was very patient, personable and caring. I had quit taking ibuprofen last week  because of possible stomach irritation before surgery, and it's been awful. Without medication, I can only walk very short distances before having to sit down to relieve the pain in my back, knees, ankles, and feet. If I'm standing for more than 5 or 10 minutes, they feel like they are about to snap from all the weight being forced onto them. Vicki cleared me to take Tylenol for the arthritis pain instead. What a relief! I hadn't realized how serious the pain was until I stopped taking anything for it. All the more reason to get this weight off. It's overwhelming and amazing to think that I am soon getting a chance to overcome the biggest obstacle in my life. Wow.
