....and here's the rest of the story...

Jul 18, 2009

Wow.  This has been an interesting/challenging day.  The tiny breakfast I had this morning ended up being the only thing I ate all day.   I tried to sip water  and nothing would stay down.  Madeline got some sf Popsicles and I couldn't even get one down, so I just came home from spending 5 hours in the ER.  This is obviously the place to be on a Saturday night in Waimea cuz it was full!  Consequently, ambulances and children took precedence over me.  After a couple of calls to Dr. Fowler, the determination was made that my band was too tight.  Well, that explains a lot!  The ER doc, with guidance from Fowler, pulled the saline from my band.  It was the first time he'd done it but he did great.  There was supposed to be 3 cc but he got 4 out, so what's up with that?

I'm now home sipping chicken broth.  On the way home I kept telling Madeline what I wanted to eat because I was feeling really hungry.  I wanted to get ice cream, she said no.  I wanted to get a hamburger from McDonald's, she said no.  So then I wanted to get french fries and she said no AGAIN!  Fish and chips?  Pizza?  No No No No!  Shheeeessh!  Now I'm stuck with this damn chicken broth.  Don't tell her, but it's pretty darn good.

I'm obviously feeling better.  Whew.

Onederland!

Jul 18, 2009

Woohoo!! I made it!  199.2 this morning!  If it wasn't for feeling stuck from the tiny bit of breakfast I had, I'd be jumping up and down!

This week has had challenges.  I developed severe acid reflux, seems like worse than pre-op.  Ended up at Urgent Care cuz it was so bad.  My jaws and neck always go into spasm when this happens, so the doctor was worried about my heart.  My ekg was okay so it's directly related to my digestive system.  I went to Oahu on Thursday to see Dr. Fowler with the intention of getting a fill, but went over the reflux information first to see if it was feasible.  He put me back on Nexium (one of) the drugs of the Gods, and did a .5cc fill.  I've figured out that the reflux seems to be caused in part by one of the medications I'm on.  Now, I have to figure out what plan B is.

In the meantime, I just ate a little bit of breakfast and as mentioned above, am dealing with the stuck thing.  I must have eaten it too fast.  I think I need to go back on liquids for a day or 2 until all the irritation from the reflux and the fill have settled down.

On a very cool note, my friend Nicole who prior to my surgery was a complete stranger, shared a huge bag full of her too large clothes with me!  Fortunately, she's got good taste so I didn't have to feel embarrassed by saying, "Oh that's cute, but I just don't think it's a good color for me."  These clothes are such a God-send and I want to be able to pass on my clothes to someone else on their own journey.

All in all, it's all good.

Distracted

Jul 08, 2009

I'm still doing mindless eating.  Working at the gallery and getting home at 11 isn't helping.  Seems I can't get out of there before 10, then there's the hour drive.  I need a couple of hours to decompress.  And I'm snacky once I get home.  So I play around on my computer looking at Facebook and FarmTown and mindlessly eat.  Then I get saturated and realize that I ate way too much of empty calories.  I'm just so tired from this job.  It's an okay job but I'm not really into selling, although the potential for making a lot of money is there.  But a 2 hour commute is really getting to me.  Especially coming home so late.

I've applied for 2 positions here in town that have regular hours and don't require a long drive.  I've asked the Universe to help me find the job that's right for me and where I can make a good salary.  I need to manifest it.
