I'm in love!
Maybe I'm a little slower than the rest of the gang....but, I love smoothie king's gladiator!

I ordered a Medium vanilla gladiator, added strawberry and banana.
45g of protein. for approx $ 7-8 dollars.

I will be buying the canister to make the smoothies at home.

It tastes wonderful, and I didn't dump!
Who knew protein could taste so lovely!

57 pounds down
on August 29, 2008 5:49 am
Well I went to support group yesterday, and I brought up my concern to the doctor that I thought I was loosing too slowly.
Three people who had the same surgery type and day, lost the following, 120lbs,100lbs, and 80lbs....and me 57.

I now weight 200 lbs. he said it could be because I am small, 5'3 and considerably lightweight.
He asked what I wanted to weigh, I had no clue what I should weigh so I gave him a number of 130 pounds, he said that is too little, I thought I should be even lower than that, because of my height and frame. He said 157 might be good, so he wants me to lose 57 more pounds.

What would be a good goal weight?
And what are some ideas for loosing faster?

Thanks for your support and guidance.

almost 4 months out
on August 9, 2008 9:46 am
The surgery didn't go as planned. i had to have a second go, 3 days later after they found out my bowel was twisted, couldn't keep water down.
so in i went, then came out ok, but sore, with two tubes in me.
I didn't want to eat for the first month, no protein shakes either, but eventually i started to eat.
as of now, i'm not following the directions given to me, eating too much carbs, not enough proteins. not taking vits except my monthly b-12 shot.
i started smoking too. ****(Edited to add- no longer smoking)******

I vow today to take my vits, eat more protein, and i have a pe class coming up on the 18th to get some exercise in.

my hair is falling out very aggresively.

i have only lost 52lbs in this time, hoping for more, but who is to blame but myself, for not doing the right thing.

Lord, let me have the strength, to get through this and make it out ok.

Dear Dr. Arcos and Dr. Drowos:

As you are aware I am will be getting Gastric Bypass surgery with Dr. Wizman.

I hope to have this surgery done in December. So I would need the letter of medical necessity done sooner than expected.

As my insurance stated the following were to be in order for me to proceed:

·        Psychological Evaluation

·        Weight loss attempts within the last 12 months

·        Letter of Medical Necessity

·        A nutritional consult with Dr. Wizman’s nutritionist

I have the following paperwork enclosed that you will find necessary when filling out my letter of medical necessity:

  • List of all diets I tried since the age of 13 ( with starting dates, start of weight and weight lost)

  • Copy of Weight Watcher Booklet From January  2006 – July 2006 (showing I had attempted weight loss within the last 12 months)

  • Copies of bank statements to prove I did Weight Watchers Online from October 2006 -  March 2007 (showing I had attempted weight loss within the last 12 months)

  • A weight tracker that shows my weights from January 2006 until present

(Weights from Weight Watchers coincide with the weight tracker)

  • Weights logged via Discovery Health National Body Challenge – I also worked out for free at the local Bally’s gym for 3 months via a promotional pass.

I appreciate all your help in assisting me in my journey of weight loss. If you have any further questions feel free to contact me at 754-xxx-xxxx.

Sincerely,

Having this info documented like this, do you think a doctor would sign off on it.

What to do.
on August 30, 2007 10:03 am
Sometimes I feel so lost on this journey, I do have support, but I don't think they think I am really going to get it done.

Just beacuse I don't have the start up money I need for the Psych, the inital nut appointment with the surgeons nut, or the surgeon's fee. TOTAL $ 875

To some that may be chump change but  for me it's like thousands of dollars.
I go to college and work part-time, and raise a daughter single handedly.

I went ot my church for support and they said they will be able to help.

My insurance covers the surgery 100%.

The only 3 requirements from them are:
BMI 40+
Psych Eval.
Weight loss attempts within the last year.

The surgeon wants:
Inital consult with their Nut for  $150
Letter of medical Necessity

Now I have 13 months documented ww records, which my insurance assured me was useable for my weight loss attempts if my PCP would sign off on them.

I just feel stalled in this journey from lack of money.

And it was bad the other day when my dad said I wouldn't be able to get surgery cause I was lazy, well I'm not really lazy but more tired and unenergetic. I don't have energy to get up sometimes.
