Surgeon Testimonial

Robert Davis, M.D.
I first went to see Dr. Davis in 2008. He was really nice. He and his son work together. I lost my job and recently picked up another insurance this year. I contacted Dr. Davis office to pick up my preparation for the surgery. In October of this year (2009)I went to go see Dr. Davis. I don't know if he was having a bad day or what but he started telling me how he will not do the lap band because it wasn't safe and blah, blah, blah. He told me that the only surgery he would perform was the gastric so I thought the hell with this guy. This was MY body and he had no right telling me what he was going to perform on me! So I started looking around at other Dr.s. Then Dr. Davis office called me back to see what I had decided to do and I told them my experience with Dr. Davis. They asked me to come back in and talk with them. I went back and saw Dr. Davis and this time he was really, really, nice. He told me the reason he did not favor the band. We talked about other options and I decided to keep him. I chose to keep him because of his competence level. He is the Dr. off of big medicine. He and his son has numerous books and articles. I told him I wanted the sleeve, he sat down and discussed all of my options and I was pleased with MY decision

Hope you're not to nervous about your surgery tomorrow. Dr. Robert is great. Have someone give you a washcloth and a small cup of ice water to dampen it with (just to keep your mouth from drying out)until you are able to drink again. Walk when you can. It really helps. Scootin' over on the loser's bench for you. Congratulations!

My Story

Today is 05/12/2010. It has been a little over 4 months. I have not bought a scale, so I do not know exactly how much I've lost but will be posting pics real soon

Update.....Today is 01/05/2010. I had my sleeve on the 29th of December. I weighed in at 264. It has been a week since my surgery. I do not know what my current weight is. I do not have a scale and I do not plan on buying one (not yet). My Dr. Appointment is tuesday coming up. I had a rough week but I am starting to feel a little better. I'm nauseated but I'm sure that will pass as my body slowly recover.

As of 10/14/2009 I am currently weighing 272 pounds. This is the most I have ever weighed. I went to see Dr. Robert Davis in Houston, Texas. He recommended the Gastric.(RNY). At first I was like hell nahh. ( I wasn't comfortable with the re-routing of my intestines) I was tripping but I knew I needed to do something. I have two great kids - My oldest who is 15 and my little girl is 10. The smallest I have ever been was 135 when I was around 18 or 19 years old. My weight started yo yoing up and down after I had kids. After much reserch I am thinking about having the surgery.

My insurance approved me for the RNY around the end of October. I really had some reservations about the RNY so I changed my mind and I went to go and talk to the my Dr. about the sleeve. We discussed it and I was approved for the sleeve. I start my pre-op on the 15th of December. I am scheduled to have the surgery on the 29th of December.

Everyone has something to say, like you don't need to do that or you are not that big and all your hair is going to fall out. Ultumately the decision is up to me. In the meantime remember that life is what YOU make it. A person cannot get wasted years back, so I tell everyone; live life and
BALL TIL YOU FALL - peace
