Vincent Iannace, MD I met with Dr. Iannace sometime in June. I brought my sister with me to the consultation. He seemed very nice, answered all of our questions & spent about 1 hour with me. He spoke of the risks involved with the WLS but, also of the risks of not having the surgery. He made it very clear that the surgery was only a tool, and you could always gain the weight back if you don't change your eating habits. I met Dr. Iannace again for a second time on Wednesday 10-24-07 and I feel I have made the best choice in my surgeons. He answered more questions I had and made me feel more at ease. He noticed i was nervous and reassured me everything will be fine. His staff is very nice and helpful, especially Joanne.

Hello, my name is Donna and I live in New Jersey, I have been overweight for the last 15 years and can't take it any longer. I decided to have surgery about 9 months ago. I have a couple of friends who have had the surgery and are all doing GREAT. I will be attending the seminar on 6-19-07 with Dr. Cappela see what I'm in store for.
6-19-07
Well I just came back from the seminar and I've decided I am going to pursue the surgery I also found out Dr. Ianacce will be my surgeon and Dr. Capella will be his assistant. I also was informed my insurance "HEALTHNET" requires 6 months of PCP visits before you could be approved for surgery. I had called my insurance company back in January when I first started to think about having the surgery and was never told that was one of the requirements. I was a little upset but I can't do anything about it so I have to go with it. 6 months seems like forever.
Now I have to let my family know my decision, that should go over well.

I had my first PCP visit today 5 more to go Well telling my sister's went just like I expected it to go. One sister thinks it is a good idea and the other does not . She thinks I should be able to lose the weight without the surgery. I've explained that I have tried for years to lose it and I can't do it any longer. My health is suffering and I'm miserable. I could go on a diet for 3-4 months, lose 20-30 lbs and start to gain it back again. I have been on every diet possible, joined every gym, but I can't stay on it long enough to lose the weight. At one point my sister even joined the gym with me but then trying to get her to go was impossible. I don't think she thinks I will go thru with the decision I have made. Now I have to start going to the PCP for the next six months.

My Dr.'s office called and gave me a date: " NOVEMBER 27, 2007" I can't believe it. I didn't know you could have a date without even submitting to the insurance company but I do. I'm pretty excited and a little nervous. Time is going by quickly.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! , My 6th and last visit to the PCP I have to come back on Wednesday to get all my paperwork and then submit to the insurance company. I'm excited and very nervous!!

I went to my PCP gathered all my forms and sent them to Dr. Ianacce's office for them to send to the insurance company about 1:00 pm. Toby called me at 4:00 pm and told me I was approved . She couldn't believe how quickly they answered (within 3 hours) Oh My God it's really going to happen. I can't believe it.

I had to go to the hospital last night to get fitted for my c-pap. Of course i didn't sleep all night and i'm exhausted now. 8 more days until surgery!! I can't believe it Now i'm starting to question my decision to have open instead of the lap thanks to my sister Paula. I called the surgeon and reconfirmed my decision again to have the open. Hopefully she is done with her moaning!!

Ok you are going to think i'm crazy. I have been so excited about this surgery. I had my last appt scheduled with my pcp on Friday and realized yesterday about 10:00 pm I forgot to go. I needed him to clear me for the surgery. WHO DOES THIS? I CAN'T BELIEVE I DID THIS. I AM IN SHOCK!!! Hoping he is open on Monday and could still get the paperwork over in time. I didn't sleep very well last night thinking about what I didn't do. Hopefully my surgery is still on Tuesday.

Thank God my PCP was open today and took care of all my paperwork. I am good to go. I have to be at the hospital 9:00 am for 11:00 am surgery. All packed up and hoping to get a good night sleep.

Sorry it took me so long to post. I have been doing wonderful!!. Today is my 4 month anniversay and I am down 93 lbs. 33 more to reach my GOAL, I have had no complications (Thank God), My only concern is I don't eat much, I get very full after a bite or two. My doctor gave me meds to help with the digestion problem, if it doesn't work he said he may have to go back in to see if he made it too small. That's it for now. I will post again soon.
