Hello, My name is Shawna. I have 4 kids 23,21,18,16 and 1 grandbaby 2 1/2 yrs. and a crazy husband that is a Surgical Registered Nurse. I was a nurse during the 80's and part of the 90's, but not any longer due to on the job injuries. I have had a weight problem since 1998. The heaviest I have ever been is 290, BMI 46.8. For several years I have been researching WLS. At one time I was interested in the Lap-band but due to latex allergies that was not possible. My first experience with a doctor in Lubbock was just about enough to make me not care about Surgery ever again. Thankfully after talking my insurance company and letting them know about all of the problems, that went on from Sept. 11,07 until Feb. 1,08. They sent me to Dr. Syn in Lubbock. I did have a surgery date of May 29th 2008, but for now the surgery has been put on hold indefinitely.

Family Needing Prayers

Hello

I am asking for prayers for my family. On Sunday March 14th 2010 my 24 year old son William was killed on his way to work. He was on his motorcycle at 4am and was run over by a semi. I am also asking for prayers for the semi driver, that he and his wife can one day be at peace. My family knows this accident was not their fault. On Thursday March 18th 2010 I buried my dad Lynn. Please send prayers for our lost family members.

Hello To All,

No news about me, but great news about Carl. As of today he is now at 215, he has lost 103 pounds since he surgery on Oct. 9th 2008 and is running circles around our 4 kids and granddaughter.

Carl's pre-op
on September 28, 2008 5:51 pm
Just got back from Lubbock. Carl had his pre-op tests done and did his pre-admission for UMC. He was starting to get a little nervous about the surgery, but was able to visit with several people at Dr. Syn's office that have had the RNY surgery and he has calmed down alot. It was a good trip. I know that he will be ready for his new life to start on Oct. 9th.

Carl's surgery coming up

Hi, Well I have some news Carl's surgery is coming up fast. He says that he is not nervous yet, but I think that he is a little bit. I am just  trying to be supportive. Taking pirctures, measurements, getting him on smaller portions for meals. vitamins, protein shakes. His surgery is set for Oct. 9th. In Lubbock

Good News for Carl

My husband Carl had his consultation with Dr. Syn on June 4th for the RNY surgery and has been approved. Now we are just waiting to set the surgery date.
