John K. Wright, Jr. M.D.
I was very nevous when I first met Dr Wright, and thought he was trying to talk me out of the surgery.
I know Dr wright was just trying to make sure I was well informed of everything, but he kinda almost scared me out of the surgery.
His staff are very sweet and helpful.
there wasnt anything I disliked.
He is very forward and upfront
I think he feels aftercare is very important!!!
Yes he has a very structured aftercare program.YOU see a nutritionist and have a strict diet.
He is Excellent!!
Surgical competence is awsome and I would put my life into his hands again anytime I had to.
I think he is a great surgeon and give him an A+.

HI I remember being over weight for a long time. When My husband and I got married I was a size 18. When I had my daughter I weighed about 250. When my daughter was almost 2 I had to have a Hysterectomy, and then I gained another hundred lbs. I suffered allot over the years with high blood pressure and hip problems and leg problems and asthma. I had all sorts of problems. I finally decided to try and get weight loss surgery. It took a little while for the insurance to get back with me. finally they told me it was investigational and was denied. My surgeon changed the way he submitted it, something about how long the intestine was going to be. Then 2 weeks later they approved it.
My surgery was set for August 31st 2004. Boy it seemed like it took for ever for that date to get near. I started a support group at Vanderbilt Hospital that is for bariatric patients. All the people there are very supportive.
Well surgery day came and went. Boy I was so scared! they took me in and got me all ready and wheeled me to the recovery room to wait. I think I was already knocked out before I even got wheeled to the opperating room. The next thing I remember is waking up in my room. Man I was hurting so bad. The nurse showed me the button to push for pain meds. I thought I had done died. It was awful.
well I was in there for 5 days. When I got home my mom and hubby were there to take care of me. I couldnt get up without help. It took me a week to be able to get out of my chair by myself. The first five weeks after surgery were horrible. I started to feel like I had not done the right thing. I was sick all the time. dry heaves and dehydrated and couldnt get enough to eat. It was awful. After those five weeks past and I started eating soft foods, I did allot better. Plus I found out a med I was on was causing nausea. Great!!!!!!!! anyway Just getting over that hump sure helped alot, then I didnt feel so bad about having the surgery. I also had lost 30 lbs by then.
Ok at about three moths out I had lost 60 lbs. Wooo Hooo I felt allot better. I didn't have to take any meds . I was not on my cpap machine any more. I didn't have to take inhalers anymore. I wasnt depressed anymore. I could walk without a cane now!!!! it is great.. It got better and better all the time. then I weighed 318 and was hoping that by the new year I would be under 300. It had been 14 years since I was under 300 lbs. I could'nt weight, I mean wait lol.......
Well it is January 3rd and I weighed on the 31st which would be my 4 month aniversary. I had lost a total of 76 lbs. I was a little dissapointed that I didn't make my under 300 goal. I weighed 302... Got really close though. By the end of this week i'd be there.
It was Jan 21st and I had lost a total of 86 lbs . I started exercising right after Christmas. I think it has helped me alot. I did pass out the one day though, I think I over did it, and my nutritionist said that I got dehydrated, so now I have to drink even more water than before.. I felt pretty good. I had alot more energy that I used to. I just wished I were already there. I am always in such a hurry, I find it hard to slow down and just enjoy the ride.
on Feb 1st and I was down 89 lbs. Was hoping for more, but who isnt!!! Somedays are so easy and other days are much harder.. I guess that it is a day by day thing for me. I felt great though!! was finding it harder to stick with my exercise program though.
OK I finally hit the century club on the 17th I lossed a whopping 101. today on the 25th I weigh 274 from 378. Now Ive lost 104 lbs. I am so happy to be able to loose this weight. I have wanted this for so long!!!
July 3 and it has been 10 months since surgery. I had lost 150 lbs so far and things were going pretty good. I hoped to loose alot more but some weeks were slower than others, at least I was still loosing.
Well, I continued to loose weight and live my life for the first time. Every week I weighed less and less.
