I'm a 43 year old woman who has been struggling with her weight her entire life. I have been with my partner, the love of my life, for 16 years.
3 years ago we decided to try a vegetarian lifestyle and never looked back. I am what you would consider an ovo-lacto vegetarian. I do not eat any type of meat, poultry or seafood, I do eat dairy and eggs. People always worry that we get enough protein. Let me tell you, we get plenty of all nutrients. We eat a very well balanced diet and are not what is called junkfood vegetarians. We eat plenty of fruits, veggies, whole grains.
My weight problem comes from several things: portion size, sugar and a screwed up metabolism from years of yo-yo dieting.

Well, the weight loss has REALLY slowed down. A pound here and there is all I can really get off right now. I've kicked up the exercise a lot and I'm hoping that this gets things moving in the right direction. I would like to at least make it an even 100 lbs. lost by my year surgiversary....I'm at 98 lbs. lost now, so I'm really working for it. That said, I am the lowest weight I can ever remember being...159. I am 9 lbs. away from having a normal BMI.
Alot of people have been questioning vitamin schedules lately, so I thought I would post mine.
This is my basic schedule for my vitamins. It becomes habit after awhile and is not as daunting as it originally seems.

I really like the Bariatric Advantage Calcium and I look at them as a treat as I suck on them. I have the wild cherry, chocolate and the cinnamon..yummy.

Well, May was a total bust. I was pretty much at a stall all month and only lost 1 lb. June pick up a bit and I lost 6 lbs. in June. I'm finding that I need to add more carbs in order to lose more. I think I have more energy with carbs and can therefore burn more calories with activity. This is just my theory and what I find is working for me. At least I'm losing again. I wasn't ready to stop yet. I'm almost 11 months out and 11 lbs. from my first goal of 150. I want to see how I feel there and I'll reassess my goal. I may want to go a little lower (my secret goal is 135).

I feel like I haven't updated in forever. I'm nearly 9 months out and down 89 lbs. to date. While it has been slowly coming off, it is still coming off. I never really had a plateau...just slow and steady. I finally started exercising...hopefully I will keep it up. Like the commercial says...Just do it!
I've been feeling great, although there are times I seem to get extremely tired. I started tracking again on FitDay so I can see if there is any connection to my eating patterns.

Happy New Year. I'm a little discouraged lately. I really feel like I should be doing better. I know exercise is the key, but I don't know what is holding me back. I have excuse after excuse. I keep saying that the Spring will be easier because I can do things outside, but again, that's an excuse. Well, I guess that needs to be my New Year's Resolution...to get exercise in as part of my daily life. So that's it....My promise to myself is to exercise 4 days a week for a minimum of 20 minutes. It's time to picture myself on the treadmill or Total Trainer and working my body and getting it healthy and see myself in smaller sizes.
Here's a total by month of what I have lost. I will be 5 months out on 1/6. I am down 66 lbs. so far. 41 lbs. to go.

I have been overweight or obese my entire life...not entire adult life..entire life. I was a chubby baby, an overweight child, an obese teenager and a morbidly obese adult. I have many, many attempts, as I am sure we all have, at conventional weight loss. Numerous times at Weight Watchers, countless diets of counting calories, Atkins, South Beach, Macrobiotic, over the counter diet pills, mail order diet pills. Then there were the fad diets...cabbage soup diet (yeah, that one was fun), AHA diet, 3-day diet, etc. Let's not forget the hundred and one times I tried my own diet ( I'm a smart woman, I know what to do). You name it, I probably tried it. It used to be a joke...I've lost and gained a fat person in my lifetime. It is no longer a joke. I am 42 years old. I am morbidly obese and for the first time in my life my obesity is really affecting my life. I am always tired, I am always depressed. I have constant pain in my ankle and knee (I will eventually need knee replacement surgery) and have just been prescribed orthotics by my podiatrist. I suffer from arthritis, sciatica, high cholesterol and probably sleep apnea (my snoring can wake the dead). Worst of all, at my young age, I've had a heart attack. I have been researching WLS for about a year on and off. After seeing friends have success with it, I decided to talk to my PCP. I think this is the answer to getting my quality of life back. Also, after my heart attack, I think this is the way I'm going to save my life. While I do believe this is the answer for me, I refuse to give up being a vegetarian. It has been wonderful for my overall health. Being a vegetarian probably kept my heart attack as a mild one rather than a major one. Here's some good veggie protein sources:Serving size:protein grams almonds (1 cup) 26.0 barley, uncooked (1 cup) 16.5 kidney beans (˝ cup) 7.2 lima beans (˝ cup) 5.4 bean soup (1 cup) 7.6 lentil soup (1 cup) 5.0mac & cheese (˝ cup)8.4malted milk (8 oz.) 11.1whole milk (1 cup) 8.0minestrone (1 cup) 5.0cocoa from mix (1 cup) 7.0 corn bread (1 square) 5.0 peanut butter (2Tbsp) 8.5custard (˝ cup) 7.2 egg, boiled 6.3 cheese pizza (1/8 of 14") 9.4egg, fried 6.7 egg, scrambled 7.1 eggnog (˝ cup) 7.0 yogurt (˝ cup) 4.4Tofu (3 oz.) 9 Hummos (1 oz) 3 Tempeh (4 oz) 20 Quinoa (pronounced keen-wa) (1/4 cup dry) 5 Cottage Cheeze (4 oz.) 16 Yogurt (4 oz), 4 Quorn (3.5 oz.) 13 Soy bologna (4 slices) 14
