I know you are excited and scared. Just know that we are all praying for you on your big day and when you get out of surgery you will be able to join those that are on the losers bench. God bless you and protect your surgeon as he does your surgery. You are a blessed child of God and He will protect and keep you. Holding your hand virtually, Tina

It has been 5 months since my surgery.  I am doing well, no complications.  The only thing is that the port for the band has twisted on its side.  When I saw the nurse last month, she said it was easily fixed and that Dr. Morton would do it in September at my next appointment.

I have had a period of time when I was stuck at 218#.  Thus missing my mid summer goal of 210 and my September 1st goal of 200 #'s.

But I have been turning up the volume of exercise to see if I could jump start the loss again.  I have been walking (fast paced) 3-4 miles per day.  This includes 1.5miles at a power walking pace, then 3/4 mile with about half of it jogging, then another 3/4 to 1.5 miles walking at a cool down pace.    This along with weight routine twice weekly.
I think it has paid off, this morning the scale shows 213 #.    Now just to keep up this pace and continue lossing.
My new adjusted Goal for Sept  20th (Day of Walk From Obesity) is to be at 209.  That will be 4 more pounds.  Set small goals and taking small steps to reach them.......this is what works best.

July 14th- 3 1/2 months post-op
on July 14, 2008 7:36 am

Well, I have been stuck at 218#'s since June 24th.  But I try really hard to remember that this is alot better than going the other way.   I have been exercising daily (walking 6 days per week, aerobic 2-3 days/week), but the scale is on the same number.   I realize that the number doesn't really matter as much as it used to.   My clothes are still getting looser and looser.  This week alone, I had to role the waist band of the pants that I wear to aerobics class up twice just to get them to stay put.

This weekend I went a bought a new pair of work-out pants, a new pair of jeans (2 sizes smaller than the ones I have been wearing and they fit perfect)  FEELS GREAT!!!!

I see Dr. Morton's nurse again on August 3rd.....hopefully, I can be past this plateau by then and on to my goal of 200#'s by September 1st

I am going to go back to writing everything down in a food dairy to assure myself that I am not getting too many calories.

Wish me luck!!

I am three months out from Lap Band and feeling great!!  Went to a friends wedding this past Saturday (see picture in black and white dress).  Feeling great and loving the size 16 dress I bought.  My husband was like a teenager on a first date.  We had a blast and even went to dinner after the reception.  (wasn't much at the reception I could eat).
Exercise has become a way of life around my house.  I miss not getting my walk in on the days I have to work 12 + hours.  I never thought I would be the one who complained about not exercising.  I even joined an aerobics class this week.  It started today, felt great, even at 5:30am.
Planning to have friends and family to our home on July 4th.  My son is doing the grilling, I will add the sides and everyone will enjoy a fireworks show after dark.
My current weight is 218, that equals 55 pounds gone (30 prior to surgery and 25 since March 26th).  I have set a goal for the summer of being at 200 pounds by September 1st.
Slow and steady.....that is what works.
Everyone have a safe and wonderful July 4th!!!  Happy Birthday America!!!
God Bless our Soldiers as they protect our Freedom and Country.

Half way to Overall Goal
on June 11, 2008 6:05 am
Today is June 11th, 2008.  As of Monday, Jun 9th, 2008 I am half way to my goal of lossing 108 pounds.   I have lost 54 pounds.
That feels Awesome to say and type.  But it feels even more awesome in real life.  My clothes are smaller, I have more energy, I have come off of half of my medications (BP meds are half of what they were six months ago, no longer requiring my Glucophage as of Feb this year and no longer taking Celebrex for knee pain).   This was one of the goals in lossing weight and becoming healthier......no more medications.   It is a start and I have a plan with my PCP to taper off the rest of the BP meds this summer/fall.

Two Months post op
on June 3, 2008 7:29 am
I am just over two months post op at this point.  I had my 2nd fill last week during the same week as I had a new grandson.  (pictures are posted--He is the sweetest).
I have lost a total of 52 pounds. (30 prior to Lap Band and 22 post Lap Band).  I am feeling wonderful, energy gallore and clothes are dropping off of me.  I am down from a size 24-26 pants to 16-18 and 24 tops to a size 16.
I am continuing my exercise which I give credit for my energy.  I try to get at least a mile a day in plus some type of strengthening & toning routine.  I still am trying to get to the gym for my weights twice weekly.  But this is harder lately with work being so crazy.
Folks at work are noticing that the pounds are falling off, most I still haven't told about my surgery.  There are a few that I have told, but will tell others as I feel the need to answer the questions about why I chose this path for my weight loss.   Too many folks at work to answer these questions for.  I work in a hospital with over 80 staff members that report to me and that is too many explanations.  I'll just leave my weight loss to me and a few selected folks.
I wish I had done this many years earlier.  But I am on my way now and my goal for the summer to to have lost another 22 pounds by September 1st. (my 29th wedding aniversay)  This will put me at 200 pounds....soemthing I haven't seen in over 20 years.   This is me waving good bye to the 200's forever after September 1st.
