Spring of 2009 WLS wasn't performed here in my Province. After being put off by several doctors, and asking for this surgery on and off for over 11 years I finally found a new family physician who was willing to help me wade through the red tape to get approval for out of province surgery. I had to do some leg work and find out some information on my own, but I had my doctor's support to write the referral and a letter to MCP. With her help I got pre-approval for MCP to cover the actual surgery costs and I was on a wait list for Dr. Savoie in Bathurst N.B. I was told it would be about a 3 year wait. Then in September of this year (2011) I hear the surgery is finally available in my Province. No sooner do I learn this, my doctor gets a letter from Dr. Savoie's office kicking me off of their list saying I was too far down to even be considered and suggesting Dr. Pace. So long story short, my referal is in and I'm at the bottom of another list.
