Surgeon Testimonial

Kevin Krause, M.D.
Dr. Krause came very highly recommended and now I know why. His office staff was extremely easy to work with and very eager to answer questions. He has a group meeting which goes through the entire process and the entire surgery, then has one-on-one meetings. I have had zero complications and I attribute it all to his superior abilities. PM me if you have any questions.

Thursday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench!

Moving Right Along
on November 13, 2007 7:16 pm
Well, I am now just over a month out.  I have made it through clear liquids, all liquids, puree', and now I am on soft foods.  I am proud to say that I have escaped any dumping.  My biggest challenge is my water.  I am having a terrible time getting in 64oz's. I love water, but it just doesn't seem there are enough hours in the day to get it all in, but I am not giving up.

My morning salavation is my Carnation Instant Breakfast.  I add a scoop of Beneprotein and have a great protein start to my day.  I think I am going to turn into a tuna melt.  I have made these on various diets that I have been on over the years and it fits into my menu.  3oz's tuna on a piece of aluminum foil, throw a piece of fat free cheese on the tuna, and put it in the broiler...yummmm...and also a good protein source.

I am down 30 pounds, and am no longer "morbidly obese".  My BMI is now 38.6. I am amazed every day at the fact that I have no appetite.  I eat because the clock say I must eat.  How Amazing!!  I love my RNY, not to mention my surgeon.  He is fantastic.

All for now. I will try to be better about updating.  Thanks to all of my friends for helping me along the way.  You have all made this journey so much easier.

Long overdue update

August 28, 2007
Don't know where I have been with all of my updates.  Slacking because I have been reading everyones posts trying to absorb as much info as possible.  Well, I have gone through all of my Beaumont required testing. As a result of all the tests, I was put on glucophage for being borderline diabetic and also told that I had high blood pressure, but no blood pressure meds because it isn't "that" bad, and as soon as I have surgery, my pressure should come down. I meet Dr. Krause on Sept 10th and can not wait.  From there I schedule my surgery.  I have BCBS of MI, so I should be approved right away.  I already have my letter from my PCP stating that I have had 12 months of unsuccessful monitored weight loss(even though it has been waaaaaaaayyyy longer than that). And that should bring me up to date.

My Story

 June 3, 2007

Well, it's official...I am an OH addict.  I am obsessed with this site to find as much information as I can.  I have been pondering weight loss surgery for a very long time, but continued to try every diet and diet pill out there with very limited success.    I am very concerned that I will be denied because I am very borderline as far as my BMI.  I guess I could easily gain 2 pounds, but that seems kinda silly.  I guess I will wait and see.  I have my PCP behind me, so that has to count for something.

My first real venture into this journey will be in just 2 days.  I go to the Beaumont Hospital seminar for Bariatric Surgery.  I can't wait.  I am not sure where the journey goes from there, but I am excited to find out.
