Surgeon Testimonial

James Kemmerling, M.D.
I cannot recommend this surgeon. I suffered through much pain from complications after lapband surgery and this surgeon's demeanor was nothing short of uncaring and even bordering on malicious, in my opinion.

It was substantiated by an expert in the WLS field that my complications were, in fact, due to surgical error and incorrect band placement. I had subsequent surgeries in an attempt to correct the problems to no avail. I still have damage to my system and my only recourse is to hope my body will heal in time.

Since I am encouraged to not only state the negatives regarding my surgeon choice, I will say that his staff is friendly and the office has a variety of magazine subscriptions from which to choose.

Happiness
on May 5, 2008 9:41 pm
I am happy. I am finally mostly free of the pain of the complications that accompanied my jacked up  weight loss surgery. I get a few twinges now and then, but all in all, I can handle it.  I can walk for miles and run and laugh again. There was a time not too long ago that I thought my life was over. It's amazing how things can change when you find the right doctor, have the support of family and friends, and try to keep a positive attitude.

I work out every day and it makes a huge difference as to how I feel. Today I climbed 2 lookout towers in Door County and walked a few miles with Hubby and Kid. It was a nice break from the gym and since I quit smoking last year and have been doing cardio activity every day for 2 years, it felt fairly easy to climb the towers. I never thought that could happen and it makes me very happy.

I like simple things... like seeing over 30 deer today...3 of them stood just yards away from me and let me just look at  them. And feeding bread to ducks and geese in Lake Michigan is relaxing and makes me feel at peace. We met a nice older couple  at one of the state parks. We talked with them for awhile and I gave their little dog some attention. It was just very nice to spend time with my husband and son and to just "be" today.

Happiness comes from within... no one can change it unless you let them.
And I choose to be happy today.

My Story

My name is Nicci. I am a wife, mother, artist, musician, writer and WLS "survivor".
I have been married to my wonderful husband for almost 20 years, we have an 18 year old son who is a great kid. I have an art and design business... painting murals, artwork and furniture. I play piano, flute and piccolo. I consider myself a "survivor" of WLS since I had the lapband in 2003 and had many complications which almost resulted in death. I have since had the band removed. I enjoy swimming, tennis, hiking, camping, boating, dirt biking, reading, music, meeting people, spending time with friends and family and working out.  If you have any concerns about potential complications from lapband surgery, please feel free to contact me. I will share any information I can with you.
