Surgeon Testimonial

Michael Williams
My experience so far: When Dr. Williams walked in the room he had a quiet confident demeanor. As we talked, I became even more comfortable and found him to be very knowledgable and honest about the risks and benefits of surgery. I wasn't sure which surgery was best for me (I was deciding between RNY & VSG) and he answered all of my questions about both options. He did not try to push me in either direction. He stated facts about the benefits of one over the other and ultimately I chose the RNY. His staff was wonderful! They were all so friendly! I must admit I was concerned while setting up the appointment because there was some confusion on paperwork, but then Jackie told me they had recently moved and were working on some kinks. It seems those kinks are either worked out or very close to it. After care was stressed several times throughout the office visit by the nurse and doctor. In my opinion surgical competence and bedside manner are both very important. Dr. Williams seems to have both. My husband and I both left feeling very comfortable with this decision and our chose of a physician.

7 Weeks Out
on April 22, 2009 4:45 pm
Confession time!  I am struggling with getting enough fluids and protein!  I just can't stand the protein drinks.  So far I haven't found any that I really like.  There is only one that I can tolerate and after drinking them 3 times a day for over a month, it gets old very quick!  I must get them in though, it is not optional.  Right now I can't eat enough to quit drinking them.  It is taking it's toll on me.  My energy level is not as good as it was last week.  I'm certain it's because of the lack of protein.  Other than this issue everything is going fine.  I have still been able to tolerate everything I have tried.  I am careful not to eat any real sugar and I'm limiting my carbs.  (Not cutting them out completely.)  I make sure to eat protein first.  Someone on here suggested 2 to 3 bites of protein to one bite of carb.  That seems to work really well.

Today was my weekly weigh in and I was pleased to have lost 7 pounds this week.  I can't wait to get to 250...a personal mini-goal.  Right now I'm at 265.5.  Almost there!  (I've lost a total of 48.5 since beginning this journey.)

I have been blessed to find a person on here with whom I have a lot in common.  (Most importantly we are both devoted Christians who are very active in our churches.)  I really think we are going to become really good friends.  I thank God for bringing her into my life.

For now that is all.

God bless!!!

Feeling Normal at last!
on April 13, 2009 3:02 pm
Just a quick post to say that I can finally say I feel fine or great when someone asks!  I have finally gotten to where I feel "normal" physically.  (Despite getting full after only 5 or 6 bites of food. LOL)  I walked up the stairs today at work twice and wasn't any more out of breath than before surgery.  I'm going to begin an exercise regime tonight.  When my hubby gets finished with what he is doing anyway!  We are going to go for a walk.

I'm really looking forward to this next phase of my journey.  I am going to try to start planning my meals better and making exercise a priority.  I have so many things I want to do with my life and it's not going to be possible until I make it happen (with Gods help of course!).  I have to quit being lazy and get up and move!  I have to make an effort to prepare nutritional foods and eat them!  It's all about making the effort.  Now that I feel better, I have no more excuses.

Well, for now that's all!

God Bless!!!

5 weeks out tomorrow
on April 8, 2009 7:06 pm
Well, Wednesday is my "weigh day" and today I weighed in exactly as last week.  It's ok though.  I know this is typical and it won't last forever.  I'm just going to try to do better at getting my protein in and starting an exercise program.  Plus this week I am having a normal cycle!  WOW!  First time in years.  That's got to add a little water weight...I guess?

I'm feeling a lot better this week.  More energy than I've had since before surgery.  It is nice to get back in the swing of things.  That's all for now.

God Bless and happy losing!!!

4 Weeks Out
on April 3, 2009 7:12 pm
This week has been the best week so far.  I am beginning to feel more "normal" and don't get exhausted so quickly.  I am so glad of that!  I hope to begin exercising tomorrow.  Maybe that will help with my energy level.

Today I had my first "sandwich".  It was 1/4 of a boiled egg sandwich and then I was so full!  Little by little I'm trying new things.  For lunch I had blackeyed peas for the first time.  They were delicious!

I'm still struggling to get all of my liquids in each day.  I had no idea that it would be so hard!  Tomorrow I'm going to try to get a good schedule going of protein powder, vitamins and drinking.  I've got to figure out a way to get everything in everyday.

My goal for the next month is to 1) get all of my liquids in; 2) get all of the vitamins & tums (calcium) in everyday; 3) get on a good eating/drinking schedule.

My next weight goal is 250!  I was at 275 last Wednesday.  I might hit this goal in the next month!  That would be awesome!!!

Well, for now that's all.

God bless!!!
