Surgeon Testimonial

Julio S. Teixeira M.D.
It has been such a pleasure going to Dr. Teixeira office his office staff is so pleasant and Jeannie his administrative assistant she was such a blessing to me. Chritine the Physicians assistant she was also wonderful she answered all of my questions. I know it says that not all offices are perfect but I have so far had a great experience with Dr. Teixeira's office. I will let you know after surgery which is on July 21 how his bed side manner is.

I know it's been awhile since I have wrote on my page but I have had a very hard time been going through a rough patch for about a year now. I was in so much pain but I thought it would go away I though well maybe my stomach just don"t agree with what I am eating so I changed and I went to a liquid and protein shake diet for a while but that didn't even help! the nausea and vomiting and pain was awful. I have been in and out of the ER.
I started getting horrific pains in my abdomen it would radiate around into my back it was pain where I couldn't stand up straight I lived in bed also I was vomit always nausea and when I would eat it felt like someone was taking a baseball and throwing it down my food pipe and it would just slam and bottom out it even hurt with liquids. I was in severe pain so I went to doctors they checked my gallbladder did numerous tests to check it but it was fine. I was in and out of the ER constantly when finally the doctors said we don't know what is wrong with you. I had been suffering for about a year when I moved here to Florida my whole body was hurting I was always in pain and I just wanted to know what was happening to me. I had this surgery to get better health not to be sick. So in August I went to the ER again and the admitted me saying I had pancreatitis but a few hours later came in and said that the blood work came back and it wasn't that. So more test, tests on my bowels on my gallbladder again I stayed in the hospital 3 days only to be released with no answers. At this point I thought I was crazy that this pain was just in my head. Well I was back in the ER again in October when a doctor gave me a number for a bariatric surgeon the only one in my area. I found him to only find out he didn't except my insurance. Because I was in so much pain I told him please could I just come in for a consultation being on a budget I couldn't afford it but I made the sacrifice to just find out what was wrong with me. So I went to see him and he ask me some questions and looked at all my tests and he told me and my husband that I was not crazy. He said that I have something called a blind limb that was on Wednesday on Friday I was in severe pain that I suffered with until Saturday morning I couldn't take it anymore I called the doctor and he told me to go to the ER. I was admitted and kept for 6 days. He did an EGD which showed I had an ulcer that was 10cm in size also a blind limb and something with the Y part of my stomach. So that explains the pain the food would go in the blind limb and sit there and basically rot. Also my body was very malnourished. So now I have a Picc line in my arm and I am being fed via an IV with vitamins. I am on a clear sugar free liquid diet very little liquids.
So this is what has been going on with me. It is so crazy I had this surgery to better my health and I don't regret it because I lost 170lbs but I hate the pain that I am in now. I did everything that I was suppose to I ate right  everything I guess I am just that 1% that has problems after wards. I wanted to write this just in case anyone here is going through this same thing and they can't get answers from doctors. I never knew about a blind limb and apparently a lot of doctors don't know about it either. God bless you all..

My 2 year Anniversary
on July 21, 2011 9:46 am
Wow it has been 2 years ago today July 21, 2009 that I had WLS gosh how time flies!!! I have been through so much since I had wls. I have lost  170 pounds and I am maintaining and I feel great now that I don't have all that excess weight on me. Although I have had so problems in the past few months. I recently found out that I have a ulcer on my incision from my wls the doctors originally thought that my gallbladder was going bad and did extensive testing to figure it out but come to find out it wasn't even my gallbladder it is an ulcer so now I am on extra medicine to help with that. Besides having the ulcer I do feel wonderful I am 150 pounds "my goal weight" and I am happy with my results. Someday I would love to have some nip and tuck here and there but am not sure when that will happen. It's not to bad but I do have some skin I would love to get rid of. I sit and think about who I was before my surgery and who I am now and it is amazing how wls surgery can change you whole life. I hear people say all the time oh people who have wls take the easy way out and me and my mouth I have to argue that point wls is not the easy way out by far!!! I think this has been the most difficult thing I have ever done in my life it has been tough but by the Grace of God I have succeeded and I am so grateful for that.
I was so blessed to have such a great surgeon Dr. Teixeria he is very skilled at what he does and I am grateful to him for making my surgery a success 2 years ago today...

And to all the people on here who supported me I am ever so grateful one in particular who would call me and check on me is Ms. Happy Peach thank you so much you don't know how much it was appreciated
SO HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME!!!!!

I know it's been forever.
on April 15, 2011 6:42 am
Hello all my beautiful friends! I know that it has been forever since I have written or even updated anyone as to what is going on with me.
There have been so many changes in my life where do I start. I first have to say that I feel amazing! Even though we have been through so much and I say we because it hasn't been just me it has been me and my entire family my husband and my three beautiful children. When you start a weight loss surgery it's not just you if you have a family it's the whole family at least I think so...
I have lost a total of 170 pounds and I am feeling great except for a few issues that I have had. In January I had to have foot surgery I had two broken bones. Then in on March 15 I had to have a total hysterectomy due to having
Endometriosis  which was in stage 5. So I have been through a lot this year but I am keeping on going!
My husband has been hospitalized twice for congestive heart failure but he is doing well now.
In November the Monday after Thanksgiving my house burnt down and we lost everything all my sons birthday gifts and Christmas gifts but God is good and he got us through it!!!
With all that being said I am feeling great now and I am loving life!!!
I started out at 318 pounds when I had my surgery in July 21 2009 I was wearing a size 28 in pants and now I am wearing a size 8.
It took me such a long time to realize that I was smaller than I was I would still go to the big girls section at the store for the longest time but now I go to the juniors section and I love all the cute clothes that I can choose from.
I went shopping two weeks ago for my daughters prom dress and I found this beautiful dress that I never thought I would be able to wear so I bought it
(because it was on clearance for like $7.00 from $139.00 "great buy") even though I have no were to wear it to but it was so beautiful I figured I might be able to wear it to a wedding or something I am hoping at least... lol

Life is so beautiful and I am so excited about what is to come. I don't think that it can get any worse I have been through a house fire two surgeries a sick husband my daughters prom I think I am doing good if I can go through all these things that are hard on you life "except my daughters prom that was a joyous event we had such a  great time getting her ready and seeing her off to her first formal dance of her teen years.".

Thank you all for listen to me and I pray that everyone out there who has had wls is doing great and that they feel great about themselves and always keep up the hard work and that the accomplish everything that they desire because one thing that I have accomplished is my weight and I know that I am going to continue accomplish my weight issue. I feel so great and I am so happy with my success...
God Bless you all and I pray for great success for you all!!!

How great it feels.....
on January 12, 2010 6:45 pm
Well to date it has been 25 weeks since my surgery and I feel absolutely great I have lost a total of 45 inches on my whole body and 118 pounds I can't believe it. You don't believe how much better you will feel once the weight comes off but it does you can do so many things that you couldn't do before... WOW.... I can sit Indian style something I haven't been able to do in years. I can run and play with my kids, tie my shoes without holding my breath, touch my toes when I bend over... I am utterly amazed..... I would like to thank all of my friend for there support through this process and I only have about 50lbs left to go until I get to my goal weight I am so excited about that I hope to do that by the beginning of the summer or spring.  I just feel so happy about this change in my life... Life is soooooo Great!!!!

17 Weeks Post Op and feeling great
on November 15, 2009 7:25 pm
Hello Everyone,
Well on Tuesday I will be 17 weeks post op and I am feeling great. I am now wearing a size 16 which was my christmas goal and I got there before christmas when I first started this journey I was wearing a size 28 and I weighed 318lbs. Today I did my measurement and to my suprise since my surgery I have lost a total of 36.25 inches and a total of 80+ pounds.... Wow I hear people say wha difference a year make I am officially changing that for me what a difference 17 weeks makes.. I went to church today and had a wow moment one of the girls who I see atleast twice a week says wow did you lose weight since Wednesday night church and I was so suprised that people actually can see a difference.... I feel soooo great.... I do have to admit though I do have a little difficulty when going shopping I still seem to go to the large clthes I have to remind myself that I am not wearing a 28 anymore and that I am now a 16 so instead of going to the smaller size I tend to still go the the big clothes. I guess in my mind I am still fat so can anyone tell me when does that end? But besides that I am feeling great and doing great!!!
