Surgeon Testimonial

Wm Todd Overcash, M.D.
My first impression of Dr. Overcash was that he knew what he was talking about and was experienced. I still think the same things, but being is his office is like watching a cattle herd. His office staff is wonderful though (especially Patrice). They work hard with your insurance company to get the surgery paid for and they're super nice. One thing you should know is that Dr. Overcash is always super busy and if you have questions for him you should think of them ahead of time and/or write them down and ask him otherwise you may forget and then that's it - you have to make him sit down for a minute and sit with you. There is also no aftercare program - just regular post-op visits, but he does emphasize the importance of support and encouragement before and after surgery. And he is pretty thorough with the risks before, during and after surgery - and making sure you understand them. Overall on a scale of 1 - 10, with 1 being the worst and 10 the best I'd give him a 7. He loses points for not having the best bedside manners and making me feel rushed all of the time.

Congratulations on your surgery date! I have some Zen Wisdom for you - Nothing exists but momentarily...One thing flows into another...observe things as they are, let everything go as it goes. This is to put everything under control in its widest sense. --- May God keep you close to his side as you travel your new journey. You will have ups and downs. You can always turn to us, your AMOS family, we will give support, comfort and encouragement. You will find this will be the best thing you could ever have done for yourself as well as your family. I know that was true for me. Keep us posted when you reach the "other" side. I pray for a speedy and easy recovery for you. Don’t forget to update your profile at least monthly. We all like to see how we are doing!!! Make sure you take pictures. It’s great to see the new you emerge!!! Not to mention the look on YOUR face when you look at those pictures and compare them in a few months! It’ll be a BIG WOW!!! Please remember too, that this is a *tool* to use. Make sure you use it wisely. The first year it’s pretty easy, after that I’ve been hearing (I’m not speaking from experience as I’m not a year out yet) that it gets increasingly difficult. Choose the right foods and measurements wisely! Good luck and God Bless!!! RNY 10/31/03 down 115 pounds– I’M IN THE CENTURY CLUB!!! Posted in Loving Memory of Paula – Momma Angel who passed away 6/10/04 (Note Momma did not pass away from anything related to WLS – she had not had it)

Baby Blues
on April 21, 2007 6:57 pm
As some of you know I am expecting my first baby this August - something doctors have always said would never happen.  Between having PCOS and endometriosis I never thought I would be a mother.  But here I am, 26 weeks pregnant!  I lead a support group meeting Thursday night and shared with the group that even after losing 175 pounds and overcoming many health obstacles I feel like obesity has stolen something else from me: to look like other mothers-to-be.  You see, I have two leftover rolls of hanging skin now that I've lost all of the weight.  The top one kind of hangs over the bottom one and hoenstly now it just looks like I am obese again.  I want to have the look and feel of a "normal" woman.  My belly doesn't match that of other womens' that are also 6-months pregnant, and it makes me sad.  I have to pull my skin up (and my very large breasts) and then, finally, you can see my tummy bulge with my little one growing beneath it.  I am grateful that God has blessed me with this baby (even if the timing isn't quite what I would have hoped), but I can't help but feel sad that even after coming all this way in my pregnancy, hardly anyone can tell.  To friends and family members that haven't seen me in awhile, and don't know I'm pregnant, they think I have re-gained weight.  I really hope, and will do all I am able, to ensure that our baby doesn't have to fight obesity the way I have...
