Surgeon TestimonialJohn W. Baker M.D.Dr. Baker is the surgeon I would highly recommend. I trusted him with my life, and would go right back to him to have the surgery again if I ever needed anything else done. He is tough, but that's because he wants you to do things his way, and if you do things his way, (which is the right way), you will love this Doctor as much as I did. He is very soft-spoken and very sweet. His smile can brighten your day, and I found it very hard at the consult to look him in the eye because as he put it in his seminar, \"You feel like the tweety bird, and I'm the sylvester!\" But after I met with him again after surgery and whe n he came to my room to do his rounds and check in, I had no problem at all looking him in his eyes and smiling.... if you don't do with Dr. Baker, you would be missiing out.rnrnDr. Baker's staff is also very professional and sweet. They do everything they can to accommodate to your needs. The nurse Addie is very sweet and really helped me to understand the surgery process better and feel comfortable.. I knew exactly what they were going to do to me in the hospital. The dietitian Courtney is very sweet and caring. She explains what you are supposed to eat before, and after surgery very well, and puts it in a nifty list... Its awesome!!! Christy, the personal contact person for Dr. Baker's office, is so precious. She helped me get everything set up, and answered all my questions thoroughly. and last but not least, the office staff is fantastic!! They could tell when I walked in to the office was nervous, and immediately calmed me down and out me at ease when I was waiting...

2 weeks out on March 23, 2009 11:16 am
Hi Everyone!
Today I am 2 weeks out and doing great. I was having problems with the dreadful word "Constipation" for the first week out, but I called the nurse at my Dr.'s office and asked what to do about it, and she said to go get some Benefiber. So I did, and that wasnt working. I called back and asked for more suggestions, she said get Milk of Magnesia. I had some last nite, and all problems are solved. And also, I found out that the meds I was on previously to WLS, Causes constipation too, so thats why Im having problems with that. Other than that, im fantastic... No pain at all anymore when I cough or sneeze or hiccup. I am still trying to figure out how in the world I can get all my water in. I have done it only 2 times and it was because it was a very hot day and I was really thirsty. I have to get 64 oz. in a day, and that helps flush me out, so thats very important that I do that. I am very excited of how things are going, and as of my first weigh in at Dr. Bakers office I have lost 32 lbs. Thanks everyone for all the love and support.....

First WOW Moment on March 19, 2009 5:53 pm
Hi friends!
So today we went to Walmart and I was walking around getting my exercise, and I decided to stop by the womens department.
My dad was with me, and he was looking at some jeans...( LOL I love my dad) He picks up a pair of 21's and a 23 (I was wearing a 26 at the time) and he says why dont you go try these on? I looked att he sizes and said "Are you crazy"? I didnt think I was small enough yet to be in anything lower then a 24. So I went along with it and headed to the fitting rooms to try on these nice LEI DESIGNER JEANS That were absolutely gorgeous...
I went in the fitting room and debated on which one to try and I chose the 21's first. I slid them up and buttoned them, looked at myself in the mirror and said WOW!!!! I walked out of the rooms in to the opening and called my dad... HE STARTED CRYING!!!!! It was so awesome.... The best day ever!!

3 days and counting =) on March 6, 2009 2:50 pm
Hi Friends =)
I went and did my weigh in today at my PCP'S Office to see how much weight I lost on the liquid diet. I weiged 289 at Dr. Bakers office when I went in for the consult, and after 2 weeks on the HMR SHakes, I have lost 12 pounds. Its not a bad weight, but I would of liked to do better. But hey, I will have my time for weight loss soon... I am getting excited, and the nerves are starting to kick in. I will have my laptop with me at the hospital, so I will keep you all updated on how things go on my hospital stay. If you can, e-mail me at smilinalpenachik@yahoo.com I would love to hear from you all... It makes me very happy to receive messages... And if you want to, come on by and see me.... Id love the company!!! Love yah all....
