I first met Dr. Oh at the informational seminar. I thought that he was very intelligent & quite funny. He gave us all 5 options of WLS. I chose to have Lap-band. He takes the whole process very seriously. From pre testing to following up... he wants me to be successful. His office is very busy, and getting ahold of them via the phone is the biggest down-side.rnrnI'll answer more once I've had the surgery.

Down 71 pounds!!

Hi guys!

It's hard to believe how well the band is working for me.   I'm so thankful to be banded... but my mind is still adjusting.  Isn't it weird how a little bit of food can make us full??  And then to stay satisfied for a long time on top of that??  Weird!!

I'm doing good on portion sizes.. and listening to my body when it says stop.  (well, except for 2 times that I ate too fast.  I probably ate a few bites too many & what a belly ache I had.  I'm hoping that those little learning moments stay with me.) 

I'm almost a week away from my appointment to get my first fill, again.  I hope they are able to find my port this time.  If not.. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.. and try to get  more weight off, so eventually, they can find that darned thing.

First Fill :(

I went to the doctor this morning, for my first fill. 

First of all... I really don't think that I need a fill.  But, you can't call at 9am to cancel a 10:15 appointment.  (That would be rude)

So.. I try to say that I don't need a fill, but he assures me that yes I do.  (I say that I don't need a fill, because I was under the impression that as long as you are losing at a decent rate, that why mess with it?  I'm down 20 pounds since surgery 4 weeks ago)

Anyway... this needle-phobe goes back in the room, lays on the table & lifts up the shirt & lowers my "Eurkle" pants.   The doctor has to press sooooo hard through my layers of chub, trying to find my port.   We think he finds it.. gives me the little numbing prick *teehee*  and the procedes to put the deep needle in & releases quite a bit of fluids, but can't get to the port.  I ended up with 8 needle pokes.. 3 numbing & 5 big ones, all to not get a fill.   He did offer for me to have the other surgeon come in & give it a try.  I said "no thank you"  He said that I could schedule a flourescope & have it that way.  Well.. call me cheap, but being self pay, I don't really want to add another bill.   I said  how about I come back in another week or two.. lose a little more weight & see if that helps.   He said that was OK with him, but, with no restriction, be careful that I don't gain.   Gain??  Has he met me??  lol   I'm hoping to lose another 10 - 15 pounds.. then let them have another "stab" at me.  LOL

I'm happy to have the extra time.. I'm hoping that if I can continue losing without a fill.. that they might consider that being big like me, that maybe for now, the band alone is enough restriction.  I figure that if I'm satisfied on a little bit of food for hours, that may be the case.  I just want to rise this feeling until it's not working any farther.  I hope that makes sense.

60 pounds gone!! Wahooo

I was sooo excited this morning to weigh in & see that I am now officially down 60 pounds!!! :) :)

Today, I'm going to the bandsters party.. where I get to meet some of the online people that I have met here.  :)  I'm sooo excited about that!

Then tomorrow, I get to drop my darling 13 year old to church camp!!   Followed by a little trip to the casino with my best friend!! :)

Monday is my 1st fill... and 2 days later...  MUSHIES!!! :)   This is kicking off to be a great week!! :)
