Shannon; Prayers for a complication-free surgery and speedy recovery are coming your way. When you're recovered, be sure to check out the Lightweights board. It's an awesome resource for those of us who started out right around a 40 BMI. Blessings, Jennifer 253 / 130

Three Month Appointment
posted on 1/21/08 2:21 pm
So I had my three-month appointment on Friday.  I'm disappointed with my weight loss because it seems so freakin' slow, but was told not to get discouraged and that I'm doing great....especially for a lightweight.  I'm assuming my labs were good since I haven't heard anything.  I was also told that I may be losing slow because I'm not eating enough.  I'm averaging 400 to 500 calories a day and need to be at at least 800 so my body doesn't think it's starving.  So I've bumped up the calories and I've lost three pounds!  Hooray!  Hooray!!!!!!!!!!  I just need to stay positive and not freak out so much about these stalls that keep happening, but that's so much easier said than done.

I was also told to put the scale away and quit weighing so much!  I weigh twice a day and I think it's a total head game!  I'm putting the scale away and I'll weigh once a week from now on.

Although I do complain that my weightloss seems slow, I am very happy about this decision I made to have the RNY.  As of right now I'm the weight I was at in college (NOT THAT I WAS SKINNY THEN) and 10 more pounds from now I'll be the weight I was when I graduated high school.  25 more pounds and I'll weigh what I did when I was 16!!!!!!!!  (I wasn't skinny then either!)  It fascinates me that in only three months I've reversed the damage I've done to myself in the past 13 years!  Even my blood pressure is normal now and the lowest numbers I've seen in a LONG TIME!  I can't wait to experience the rest of this wonderful journey I've been on.
