Hellooooo size 16
on November 27, 2011 10:05 pm

I hit a plateau for about 3 weeks after I went back to work.  Started getting frustrated.  Would go up a pound or two, then down a pound.  Finally a few days ago I started losing again...whew!  Well, my work pants have been feeling kind of big, so I figured it's time to get some that fit a little bit better.  Tried on a size 16 thinking....no way, will be too tight to zip....uhhhh I was wrong!  It fit!  O M G!  How amazing the feeling is to fit into a smaller size.
My weight as of this morning was 215.4 with clothes on.
YAY!  I hope this keeps going this way.  Feels great!

WOW
on October 25, 2011 5:00 pm

Went through some of my clothes today...still have plenty to go through.  Getting rid of alot of clothes.  Thankfully I still have some work clothing from when I was a bit smaller.  So, I used to wear a size 24 pants, and they were getting pretty tight.  I put on my old size 18 pants....and they fit....a little snug, but no more so than my size 24 pants were.  I can't believe it!  I am pretty excited.
So as of today, I am 221.8 pounds, I started out at 275.  That's 53.2 pounds since JULY!  HOLY HECK!

On another note, I am having trouble getting down my protein.  I am still on liquids...so all my protein comes from my shakes, I am lucky if I get one down.  This part is getting frustrating!

Home from surgery
on October 1, 2011 10:55 pm
Surgery went very well.  Very little nausea.  Pain in easily controllable.  I'm able to keep my liquids down.  Doc did a CT scan to ensure that there were no leaks.  And viola...no leaks.  Great Surgery overall.  HOWEVER, he says, during that CT scan we found something else.  There is a 6cm tumor on one of my ovaries...well, I should say my only ovary, as I had a hysterectomy several years ago, and only had one left.  6 CM is quite large....and very disconcerting.  He got a GYN in to talk to me, This doctor did some blood tests to check for cancer, and did an ultrasound.  So, here I sit waiting to go for my consult with him to find out what the tests reveal.
Looks like another surgery is in the works really soon.
Wish me luck.

Tomorrow is the big day
on September 28, 2011 10:16 am
I am scheduled to be there at 8 am tomorrow for my RNY surger.
The 2 week preop diet went fine.  There were a few days in the middle that were a little more difficult as far as hunger.  There were some changes to get used to.  I didn't lose as much weight as I'd hoped.  But, I am pretty close to having lost the 10% of my body weight that the doctor wanted.  (within 4 pounds).
I have been going through some of my clothes and trying on some stuff that hasn't fit for years....and viola.....some of it's fitting already!  How exciting.  And, I am getting rid of the clothes that no longer fit.  That is a hard one.  I guess it's just habit to keep clothes that no longer fit "just in case" I ever go back up to that size (or down to).   I am making a commitment by getting rid of them.  And, it kinda feels good!
Wish me luck.  I am so excited, and a little bit apprehensive too.

day 5 of liquid diet - pre op
on September 19, 2011 8:25 pm
Well, the hunger isn't seeming to be an issue for me.  I think the hardest thing for me right now are these dang protein drinks.  They don't necessarily taste horrible, they do smell kind of ucky.  But I think it's having to drink them 3 times a day.  I have 4 different flavors, and I don't always drink the same ones.  I am going to try some different ones too, just ordered them tonight.  I have lost 8 pounds so far, not bad after 4 days....but I feel like maybe I should be losing more.  Maybe I'm wrong here.
Also, (and I'm sure this is TMI) bowel movements are only every couple of days, and WAY less than normal.  Don't know if this is normal either.  I'm assuming maybe it is.  But, since I'm not eating, and I SHOULD be burning fat, shouldn't I be getting rid of the fat that way?  I don't know.
My mood has been good, haven't been extra cranky, which I kind of expected.  I have had a little less energy than my usual self, but thats to be expected I'm sure.  I am 10 days away from surgery.  I'm getting excited, but also wondering....can I do this for the rest of my life?  I know, it won't always be like this.....3 protein shakes a day, jello, popsicles, and bullion.....it does go to a more normal place than this.  Yes, I can do this.  I have to.  I need to get healthy again, for me...for my children....for all the people in my life.  I'm a fighter....always have been.  I will do great!
Looking forward to day 6 to see if I've lost anymore weight.
