Leland J. Cook
I could not have asked for a better surgeon or Weightloss program. Dr. Cook is such a sweet and humble man. He is a total professional, yet makes you feel totally comfortable and cared for when talking to him. I would recommend anyone to him. Thoughout my hospital stay, all the staff kept commenting on what a great surgeon he is and how much he cared for each and everyone of his patients. He always answered all of my questions and was eagar to help and make me comfortable thoughout my hospital stay. Throughout this whole process I was totally informed!! I was given guidence and directions on every step of the way. I was given a 3 ring binder filled with lists of what food to eat at what stages, along with meds that I was aloud to take and what things to expect before and after surgery. All of Dr. Cooks staff is very professional and very knowledgable about the whole procedure and aftercare. I was comfortable throughout the whole process!

FAT all over again!

Had lab-band placement on Jan 4, 2008 and had it removed due to a major slip on July 9th, 2010.  I'm fat all over again and insurance won't pay for ANYTHING!!!  NOW WHAT??

I've been doing really well since my lapband was removed!!  THANK YOU, GOD!!  I'm down  91.4 pounds lost!  Down to 163!! My hubby told me that I'd lose more weight when I got my band out, but I didn't believe him.  He was RIGHT!!  I've been losing weight ever since the band has been taken out.  My surgeon was very impressed at my post op appt.  I'm exercising and being a lot more mindful of my eating.  I really know that I CAN do this even without " the band"!!!  God has really given me the strength to control my eating!!  I hope you all are doing well!!!

Well, this lapband has to come out!  Should have gone with RNY!  I'm maintaining my weight..THANK GOD!  Been getting into a good workout/ weight training schedule.  Want and NEED to get some nip and tuck soon!  Hope all is doing well!

I had another appt with dr. on March 9th.  My pouch is still a little enlarged but not enough to worry about.  NO SURGERY, THANK GOD!!!  He really does answer prayers!!  Dr just want to keep an eye on it to make sure it stays the same and doesn't get any worse.  I'm still struggling with my portions and stopping when I'm satisfied, but I'm doing well!!  I just have to be conscious of it all the time.  Mineless eating gets me in trouble!!LOL  BE Blessed!!

MAD AT ME!!!

Well, my last post tells of my plans to go in and have a fill cause I "sure needed one".  (I was able to eat everything, even yummy fluffy rolls. ) That was not the case when I went to see my surgeon.  He took a look at my band under flouro and saw that my pouch was enlarged.  He said I was too tight?!?!?!?!  and my pouch has stretched.  I only had 2 fills before that appt.  So, he took out some fluid (about 2cc, I then had less fluid in my band then I had at surgery) and sent me home.  He wanted to see me back in 3-4 weeks.  Well, life happened (moving, back surgery,
5 hour drive, etc...)and I never made it back in until yesterday.  I really didn't think I needed a fill, but thought maybe a little tweek would help.  Well, he looked at my pouch, again under flouro and TOOK MORE FLUID OUT!!!  My pouch was the size of a small grapefruit, when it should be the size of a golf ball!  With more fluid out of my band I thought for sure I'd be eating everything in the house today, but I'm not!  Feeling the same as I did before he took fluid out.  He wants to see me back in 2-3 weeks to make sure my pouch has gone down, because if it doesn't, he will have to go back in (surgery)and place the band where it is supposed to be.  On the flouro, it looks as if the band has slipped down my stomach.  There is more stomach above the band then below it.:(  I think this has everything to do with me!!!  Not eating slowly, not eating small bites, trying to fit in a few more bits cause it tastes sooo good, and not chewing enough. NOW, I'm trying to eat small amount SOFT foods and really paying attention to how I eat, like I should have all along.  I'm praying that when I go back in for my next appt. that my stomach will be back down to where it is supposed to be.  Please pray for me!  If you are a lapbander, FOLLOW THE RULES FOREVER!!!  Take it from me, they are there for a reason!!!!  And I know all your RNYer's are saying' "Ya see...that's why I didn't have lapband!!"LOL

My Story

 Hello!! I'm Andrea!  I'm a 37 year old yankee living here in NC!!;) I'm 6 times blessed!!  I have 3 beautiful children (2 boys, 5 & 3yo, and a 18 month old baby girl) and 2 great step-kids (boy 16 & girl 14yo).  I am married to my best friend, who is so loving and supportive in everything ( and thinks I'm sexy just the way I am :)!  He's the BEST!!   I am originally from NJ and moved her to Jacksonville, NC in May 2000.  
I have struggled with my weight my whole life, constantly gaining and losing.  I've tried pretty much everything.  I had Lap-Band surgery Jan. 4th, 2008.  My main goal is to feel good about myself and to be at a healthy weight for my family.  I'm so tired of being the fattest one in the group.   I want to be the mom running around with the kids at the park, not the fat, tired mom sitting on the bench just watching.  My weight and how it makes me look and feel is ALWAYS on my mind, and I'm sick and tired of thinking about it.  
I love the outdoors, horseback riding, nature walks and being with my family.  I am a christian and love the Lord with all my heart!  I believe in Him to guide and direct me in all that I do...and yes...even with lap band surgery!
