Surgeon Testimonial

Douglas M. Krahn
When I first saw Dr.Krahn it was some time ago at a seminar in Rancho Cucamonga. After listening to him, I felt right away that Dr. Krahn would be a great choice for my WLS. At that time, my insurance did not cover him for my Surgeon. A few months had gone by and I was approved after some more paperwork, still unsure of who my surgeon would be. Then my Dr office called me and said the surgeon would be Dr.Krahn. I was so excited!!! I immediately went online to see if it was him. I was so happy that it was. My 1 on 1 appointment was good. Although, I was very nervous, My mom was with me she asked so many questions. Dr. Krahn seemed to be very concerned about my health and passionate about these WLS procedures. The office was clean and professional looking, and had a photo album of before and after pictures which was nice to look at while I waited. The office staff was nice. Debi came out to taljk to me about what I could expect from here on out. They gave me a package with lots of information. The pr-op diet is very strict and structured, which is a good thing, easy to understand, so there is no mistakes. So far i would rate Dr. Krahn a 10. He is also very handsome:)

1 Month Surgiversary
on December 28, 2007 10:27 pm
Well just 2 days ago was my 1 month date for my wls.  i am amazed at how good I feel.  I have lost a total of 55 pounds.  I already had a slow week last week, but when I went to see Dr. Krahn, Brian his PA said not to worry, and that I am doing great.  We talked for a little while about a lot of different things, that I had questions about.  I am so happy I made this life change.  I cannot wait to see what else is to come.

14 days since my WLS
on December 10, 2007 10:39 pm
Today it has been exactly 2 weeks since my surgery.  I am soooooo HAPPY that I have this new tool.  I am grateful to my Surgeon, Dr. Krahn....he is awesome.  Even though since surgery I have had some minor set backs, I feel great!  I really hated to take the pain meds because, i felt sick, but I came to the realization, I will not feel better, if I am just laying around in pain.  I am up moving around more and even got out of the house today.  The sun felt good.  I really need to focus on drinking more everyday.  I am starting soft foods.  So far, I have tried; refried beans, cottage cheese, tuna, soft scrambled eggs, and protein drinks.  I dont like the taste of crystal lites, so I have only been drinking water.  Since my surgery day, I have lost 18 pounds.  Total 45 pounds. I am really happy!  :)

My Story

This is my story:  I have been overweight since the birth of my first child, which was 16 years ago.  Then I had my 2nd 7 years ago and gained even more than I needed too.  A few years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes.  I have tried every diet I heard of.  Not successful at any of them, I thought about WLS for a very long time. I have been thinking about weight loss surgery for about 5 years.  When I first went to my doctor and asked about it, she said no, she wouldnt give me a referral.  So in the meantime I tried every new diet that came out from nutri system to LA weight loss.  I would loose maybe 3-4 lbs and that was all, and each time I would put back on 10 more.  I went to my doctor again and there was changes made in the office so I asked again, and she said yes.  So this all started back in April 2007.  The 1st attempt insurance denied because I needed a 6 month diet, to see the dietician more than I had, and a phychiatric evaluation. So after I had all of this finished it was August 2007.  So the nurse at my doctor sent everything in to my insurance, and it was approved to see the surgeon.  In the meantime, from April to August, I heard of a seminar for WLS, so I attended.  Come to find out this Surgeon is the one who would be my surgeon.  On October 4, 2007, I had my 1 on 1 with
Dr. Krahn.  This appointment went really well.  Dr. Krahn was to the point, professional, and cute too lol.  He talked about the Lap band and RNY, I felt that the RNY would be best for me.  So my Mom went with me, between her and I we played 20 questions.  At the end of the appointment Dr. Krahn started me on the protein diet, 2 shakes per day and one small meal for 4 weeks.  I must say this was tough in the beginning.  But as each day went on it really was easier.  He also gave me perscription to have more test done.  Ultrasound of gallbladder, Upper GI, and Chest Xray.  Those are done and got the results of the gallbladder, I have gallstones.  HMMMM, wonder how this is gonna work.  Today, 10-21-07, I went for my Medical Clearance, had an EKG, this was good.  Just waiting on other results, and then .............................my WLS!!!! YAY!!!!
